One less place to worry about cleaning (that being the top of the rear fender). :2vrolijk_21:

The spoilers look good.  I'm gonna have to do those sometime soon.

Only thing I might add to anyone that wants to do this and likes to remove the bags when washing/detailing (like myself and a few others here ;)) the bike keep that in mind when doing your wiring. You are going to want an accessible quick connect/disconnect so you can get the bags off/on w/o having to remove the seat.

Yup, very clean look to it in my opinion (the one that matters eh?) Barry, displacingair, had them on his SWEET. I don't think the MOCO has them in my color tho. BlackIce. They list everything but. Good point dood.

Are those Harley parts or aftermarket?  Guess HD due to the paint match.  They in the catalog or online?

That's correct.  I was even more pleased to find out that on the '07's this harness connector snaps onto the same mount that the power lock disconnects do.  Nice clean install.

Do more than look at the catalog. Ask the right parts people, the Black/Crimson is also not listed (as of 10-'06) when I ordered mine, after the tins replaced and acceptable :carrot:. They look great and friends tell my they are very bright even in the daylight.  Wrongway

I think I may order these even if I don't install them right away. This looks like a part that could be quickly become obsolete.

Good set up. Very nice looking spoilers.

I will bear them in mind for my future upgrade as I got already too many goodies to install once the bike is here.

Thanks for posting pics of your install.

No, but they have been on my wish list for a couple of months.  Going by Bumpus today to order them.  Look too good not to have and especially now knowing that they wire in with the saddlebag locks.  I thought it would be more complicated wiring but this makes it a no brainer.

A little clarification.  They don't wire in with the saddlebag locks, but they do plug in to their own connector that shares the saddlebag connector mount.

I hope that makes sense..

FWIW, be prepared for about an 8-10 weeks delivery time unless you get real lucky. I had to wait the full 10 weeks as I was told they are not a stocked item but a special order item from the custom paint subcontracter.........

The order may go a little faster right about now with the strike still on since I imagine that must be slowing down on the need for painting new bike parts.......... :nixweiss:

That's about what I figured since I've ordered painted parts before.  Usually come in sooner that quoted but we'll have to see what happens with these.

What color is my bike?  It's a cherry SEEGII, ('05)....  The down side is that I don't have a dealer that I can walk in to to order them, so I'm on the phone with "somebody"....  When I.....  hmmm.....   I have the little gizmo that turns my turn signals on all the time in the rear end...  Are these going to light up the same way?

Recommendations gladly accepted!

woohooo!  the deciding parts done, and I have my credit card in hand!!!!!!!

hmmm, I guess that wasn't so hard after all!  Where/who should I call guys?    ::)

I ordered them in late December just before Christmas, took about six weeks.

I do have the brake light gizmo installed as well and they work the same way, running lights and they go bright when the brake is applied.  They don't go on with the turn signals though.

Hmmmm!  I fitted the spoilers to my 07 a cuppla weeks ago, and I thought that they should do that, but I couldn't work out any way to get them on, other than at 90 degrees to the power lock connectors.  Have I missed something?

Nah - I've had them on all my bikes since '02.  I usually go for the contrasting colour to the lid though, eg on my black and silver 100th FLHTCUI, the lids were silver, so I went with black spoilers.  Looks even cooler!

That's why I added the lighted saddle bag latches also to mine. They act as turn signals, the spoilers are brake lites, the tail lites blink with the Kuryakyan gizmo.  I wanted all the rear lighting I could get.  The bonus was the side lights and how cool they look from the side. Might help someone from making the dreaded left turn in front of me.

If you order a set and sit on them for a while, keep them temperature stable while you're waiting to install.  The foam "gaskets" don't do well with temp changes prior to installation.  I've had them on all 3 dressers I've had.  Great option.  Should be standard.

Hey GC_Super,
Any chance you have a picture or two of of your lighted saddle bag latches?  I like the idea, but I don't care too much for the picture in the HD Accessories catalog.  Maybe your picture is a little better???
Thanks.

I have and like the saddlebag and tourpack lights also.  As others have stated, the more light on the rear the better.  The only thing I don't like about them is the fact that they are not as bright as my Kuryakyn taillight and turnsignals.

I ordered them in late December just before Christmas, took about six weeks.

I do have the brake light gizmo installed as well and they work the same way, running lights and they go bright when the brake is applied.  They don't go on with the turn signals though.

If anyone is interested, I could come up with a plug in adapter to give you the same functionality you have with your turn signals. This way, if you run the converter, you could get run/brake/turn out of your saddlebag lights.

Lots of options are possible, like also combining the power lock option found on the 07's so there is only one connection from the saddlebags, instead two.

Chiefy, I for one would be VERY interested in that!  I have the power locks, the saddlebag spoilers AND the lighted latches, so I have three connectors to connect/disconnect every time I want to remove the saddlebag.

I think it's worthy of investigation. Can someone scan and post a PDF of the instructions for both the spoilers and latch lights? That would really help.

Chief, I don't have the docs any longer but the connectors for the latch light and saddlebag spoiler light are both simple little three wire inline connectors.  Latch light is ts/run/grd and spoiler is run/brk/grd if you've hooked them up "stock."  The grounds and running lights can be combined to bring a single connector for those two down to four wires.

Does anyone know if the harness to the power latches is just open/closed/grd?  If so the whole thing could be done with a single six wire connector.

On both of the accessories, I don't see any way to disconnect the wire near the bag? It looks like in both cases, the wire runs from the bag all the way to either the accessory plug, or the rear fender harness.

Am I missing something? How do you remove the bags?

No, there are connectors for both near the bag, Chief.  For the spoilers, there's a Y-harness from the accessory plug that ends in two sockets, one at each bag.  For the Latch lights, there's a Y-Harness from the rear light connector under the seat that again ends in two sockets, one at each bag.

Thanks Jim.

It's probably all self explanatory when you have hardware in-hand, but just reading the installation instructions leaves me with lots of questions.

Anyone around Atlanta have any of these goodies installed?

Chief, assuming the products haven't been redesigned since I installed mine your descriptions are half right.

My spoilers came with harnesses that did have disconnects that would hang just inboard of the saddlebags (generally between the saddlebag and strut).  The few other sets of these I've helped other put on all were supplied the same way.  The last ones I did, however, were about 8 months ago.  So of course the harness design could have been altered.  The product was supplied with a harness on the lights, complete with terminated ends, that went through the bag.  You'd then just slide on the plastic terminal housing.  That connector than mated to its other half that was part of the intermediate harness you plugged in to the bike.

The saddlebag latches, however, were not supplied the same way.  At least when I did mine a year or so ago they weren't.  They were supplied with one long harness that went all the way from the light/latch itself to the mating point under the seat.  No easily accessible disconnect beside the saddlebag.

I just got another set of the connectors and terminals like those used with the spoilers.  Cut the harness just inboard of the saddlebag (same area as the spoiler connectors were) and made a quick disconnect there.  So both the lighted latches and the spoilers have disconnects right next to each other.  Since they were the same plug I just made sure the m/f was swapped between the two so each could only plug in to it's own connector.

They must have changed them 2L.  Mine came with a Y-harness.  You disconnect the two halves of the rear light connector under the seat;  One end of the Y-harness has the mating male and female for that connector, so it acts as a breakout from the main harness, if you see what I mean. The other two ends of the Y-harness go down to near each saddlebag, and they have a female connector on there.   When you fit the lamps, just like the spoilers, they have pre-terminated ends, which, after you get them out through the hole in the bag, you push into the male part of the connector, which then in turn connects to the mating female.

I guess they must have changed them quite a while ago - I got mine last April or thereabouts, and that's how they were.

This is perfect Jim, and the best answer possible.

Now, I have one for you. Are all of the connectors used Deutsch connectors? If so, they should have a part number like DTM04-3P or DTM06-3S for the 3 connector pieces.

Sounds like the change was made to make them they way they all should have been to begin with.  What you describe is what mine became after I worked on them.  It was silly to have to remove the seat to unhook the harness before you could take off the saddlebag.  Glad they got smart and changed it.

I put the saddle bag lighted latches on yesterday. You guys are costing me BIG Time $$. I put the first one on in an hour. The second one went on in 15 minutes. I can see that after getting the lighted spoilers installed it's going to be one huge wad of wires to disconnect to get the saddlebags off. Makes you wonder whatever happened to the simplicity of a bike back in the 80's!

Sounds great, I'd be interested..

I attached the .pdf for the lid spoilers.
I ordered my spoilers just before Christmas and they just got shipped last week!  In the meantime, the dealer printed out the instructions (your PDF) so I could do some rewiring for the install of a "wig wag" for the spoiler lights.  I have the LED light bar (connected to the spare outlet in the Tour Pack) and LED tail lite (Retro) already connected.
With the two accessory plugs under the seat (one is used for the heated seat) the other I wired my GPS to for the Accessory Switch power connection (The four pins are for: 1= power with ignition on, 2= power with Accessory Switch on, 3= Brake lites and 4th is the ground) I needed the Y connection sold by HD to connect to the Wig Wag between the Accessory Plug and the harness from the spoiler lights.
Update:
Just got the Spoiler in and happy to see the wiring harness has a quick disconnect at the saddle bags.  The self tapping screws to mount the LED to the spoiler are a PITA!  Be careful not to twist the head off the screw! (I didn't, but felt I could have if I did not keep chasing the thread and clearing debris out after I was almost at the end.)  I will drill the holes and mount the spoilers over the weekend.

HB,

What is the part number for the black ice for the CUSE?  I looked and did not see it.  I definitely want to get these added at delivery!!!

KHD...You listening? ;D

I just put the vivid black ones on mine - you can't really notice the difference.

Cobalt, here's at least one option to consider.

Those connectors to the spoiler lights and latch lights are small.  The wires are smaller.  The system is fine while riding.  It's not terribly robuts in the hands of ham fisted service techs who just pull on the saddlebags though.

I never had a problem.  Three times in it's life someone besides me has taken a saddlebag off.  Twice one of those connectors got pulled apart.  It's easy to do if they're not careful.

I took a four wire deutsch connector and made a single and more robust connection that handles what was done by the two connectors before.  You need a brake light wire, a t/s wire, the two run lights previously existing can be serviced by one lead as can the two ground leads that previously existed.

If yours ever do get yanked apart it's an option at least worth considering.  Used a little heavier wire for the legs to reach each way.  Good connections to crimp to at the connector.  It's also a more weather resistant connector than the stock pieces.  But, primarily, dumasses don't pull it apart without looking.

Someone had posted earlier, that it's listed in the "big book", but not online.  Here's the part number that was given for the Black Ice 58606-07CKF.

I don't know why they don't show all the color choices online. If you ask at the dealer they have probably every color to match any HD saddlebag. I ordered a set of black emerald a while back.

I ordered a set of the deck lid spoilers for my B&O today.  Dealer told me that beings it's a current color, should take 2-4 weeks to get here.  Hopefully, they'll be in and I'll have them installed before York.

HB,
I'm not holding my breath. ;)  From what I've read on here, they will take longer than 2-4 weeks, but then again, maybe I'll get lucky and they will be doing a batch and get done sooner.  Hey, I can dream can't I???  ::)

LOL Dream on Brother!

I actually checked on mine yesterday, they're ready to ship. You actually may get them pretty soon. I'd guess when they get orders for parts with a certain paint scheme, they do as many as possible.

After this thread popped up, I decided to go ahead and get some for my "old" '04 SEEG last month.  I got them within a week.  Ordered them on a Saturday and picked them up on the following Friday.  Couldn't believe they would have them sitting around, but apparently, they did!

Magic, I was looking at these on their web site. It has a warning:"This module causes the cruise control not to engage on 2002 and later Harley Davidsons". Do you have any problem with that? How do you like them?

Had her out for a ride this weekend using cruise control and no problems.  I will look at the web site again and give them a call if necessary.  Wonder why it would cause it not to engage?  It ties in at the accessory plug under the seat so it does not come into play (one would think).  The accessory plug activates the running lites when ignition is turned on and then one of the 4 contacts is for the Brake light. (the other two contacts are Ground and Accessory Switch)

Ok, I admit it, I'm like a bull in a china cabinet. I just rode the scooter down here to the shop and put the saddlebag spoilers on. I drilled the holes, mounted everything and run the wires, NO problemo. They look nice. Now, let's plug the wires in. Instructions say, FIND the accessory plug. This bike has more BS plugged into it than the PC sitting on my desk. The heated seats plug into the accessory wire. I found out, for a minimal charge you can get a Y-connector. OK, I'm smart, unplug the heated seats and plug in the spoiler lights. It's spring! Who needs the heated seats now? Did that. Wait, what's that broken fuse from? Now the left lighted saddlebag latch light is working and the right spoiler light. Neither the left spoiler light nor the right saddlebag lights are working.  I figure sleep on it, wake up fresh and trace the circuits tomorrow. AT least I didn't let the drill slip and run a huge scar across the top of the saddlebags.

HB...the heated seats shouldn't be plugged into the one thats switched by the ACC switch on the dash.  There's another one in that hole in front of your battery where the wire comes up for the seats...at least there is on mine. :nixweiss:

I couldn't argue with you either way. The plug that goes to the heated seat is the same type of plug as the wires that come with the lighted spoiler kit. I called the dealer and they said I need a Y-connector for that plug. He did verify that the spoiler and the heated seats use the same wires. Yes, there's another plug/wire in that hole, but I'm not using that one.

I actually got an offer from  a local dude on my Heritage.   After much contemplation, I decided to keep her.  Kind of like selling your first born ;D.  I'll keep her for awhile and maybe make a decision again in late Spring or early summer.  I hear baggers are bringing more $$ on the used market since the strike.  I'm just kidding myself, but that is a pretty good reason to keep two horses in the stable, at least for a few months. :P

as per my last post, I slept on it last night. Went to work for a bit, came home about 9:30, fixed a pot of coffee, walked out to the garage and fixed it in 3 minutes. I had some plugins crosswired. Dugh.

TcnBhm, You were right on. I dug deeper into that pocket, and sure enough, there's another plug buried deep in there. THAT made everything work mo better. I've attahced a couple of photos for those who asked, but the photos suck. I did the best I could. I took them three times. It's just hard to get the right view of them.

HB, you got yours in record time.  Ordered mine Feb 11th and they called me last Fri to say they were in.  Picked them up today.  Question to all: instructions say to plug into the accy plug and it will work as a running lite and brake lite.  Is this correct?  The accy plug will trigger it as a brake lite?

Jerry, the accy plug carries four legs.  Run, brake, switched power (through the accy switch) and ground.  The spoiler's harness only needs three of those four, but it does supply what you need.

Hey Terry. I ordered mine February 13th. They came in March 29th or so. They had told me 6-8 weeks. I think it depends on when they run that batch of painted parts.

I think the spoiler lights act as brake and running lights, but not blinkers. Pretty easy parts to install if you're smarter than me and can find the accessry plug. I think the bag spoilers are a nice touch.

Thanks Don.  Figured they knew what was what as per the instructions but I just thought that the accy plug was for power only.

HB, the heated seat on both my '06 and my '07 was plugged into the accy plug from the factory.  Never could find the other plug for it on my '06 but finally did on my '07.  So now my accy plug is free for the spoiler lites.  Hope to get them installed soon.

Jerry, the accy plug carries four legs.  Run, brake, switched power (through the accy switch) and ground.  The spoiler's harness only needs three of those four, but it does supply what you need.

They also sell a Y splitter in case you want to use the accessory plug for something else.  I have my GPS harness connected to it, using the Switched Power leg.

If you decided to use on of the "back off" modules, you will need to make an adjustment to the plug on the Spoiler Harness as the spoiler brake light wire is a two into one termination at the Brake Light leg of the Accessory plug.

It's on Page 431 of the P@A  Catalog.

I would guess Light Candy Cherry,

Light Candy Cherry 58606-05BSC $189.95

It's an '05 part number but that is the proper name of the color...

That's the color for the 05 SEEGs.  So if you want to see how close the match would be pull yours up against a red SEEG and eyeball the comparison.
