Separate and apart from the very difficult to understand path taken by the Road King; notice the civilian's perception of the "biker."

An unfortunate event for sure, what the video does not show is what happened before the RK made the pass. The cager may have been going really slow and not pulling over to allow a safe pass for the bikers, the guy on the RK finally decided to romp on it and made a huge mistake. That would also explain why the cager's thought they would get there a$$ kicked if they stopped [smiley=nixweiss.gif]

If that was the Dragon, there are places to pull over...but to be honest, in the clip, I did not see one on their side of the road...there was one on the other side.

Yes, definitely the biker's fault although there was a place or two to pull over or slow down to let them pass.  In addition, they should have stopped and possibly provided transport for the injured biker.  We had a biker go down when we were down there for the 'national' and it took over 45 min for rescue to get there and he was bleeding quite extensively.  Luckily, there was a nurse with us who provided some first aid and slowed the bleeding down.

Looking at this...aside from the stupid remarks by the guy in the cage, and the fact that he did not stop to assist because he is judging a lot of books by their covers...appears to me the guy thought he was too hot going into the curve, hit the rear brake (notice the back end of the bike just before it straightens up and goes off the road) which stood the bike up, lost his lean angle, and the bike went straight, just as it is supposed to do.  He just panicked in the middle of a turn and did the exact opposite of what he needed to do.  Trailing rear brake is one thing, but he locked her up.  Hope the guy didn't get hurt too badly.

The fact that the guy in the cage was freaking because he saw a bunch of HD "bikers" is a statement on how Joe Public views some of us, despite all efforts to dispell stereotypical concepts by the riders of HD bikes.  Just shows to go you that a lot of them are still out there...

Yes...it looks like the Dragon to me...

Unfortunate decision to pass, most likely made in frustration, but it sure shows how quickly a nice day turns to crap on you.  That back brake lock up was the wrong solution though.

I agree with the sentiment of 2Ln that the cagers take.  Very disconcerting.  However, unless a person has contact with some riders they would only have the stereotype of a "biker" in mind, a very difficult one to change.  Especially since the Harley riders are what most folks picture as bikers.  Damn shame, I hope the rider was unhurt.

Looks like the Dragon to me too. Good reminder of what not to do in a turn. I learned about the back brake the hard way on our ride back from Dillard last year. Did not loose the bike but it sure woke me up.

Man, that guy was possibly an inexperienced rider.  Looked to me like he had the room to make that pass, but panicked.  The second Bike did almost follow him off the road!  I'd say he was hurt pretty bad.  Bet that Bike received additional damage, being retrieved.  That was bad. :'(  Later--HUBBARD

Second biker appears to be a classic case of bike going where you are looking. I would bet that he was watching his friend go over the embankment and his bike just went where he was looking. :(
