Chopped tour-pack solo set up
« on: March 27, 2015, 09:06:51 PM »

Trying to see if anyone has put the chopped tour-pack solo set up on a SESG. If so do you have any pictures that you can post? I have seen pictures of the King tour pack on a solo set up. Would like to see the difference to help me decide what I might want.

I just went with the king because of room, those long trips you never know what you might pick up.

Bloomer
Do you have the breakdown on prices for your set up? I want to add the same to my bike but in starfire black/gold dust. Up here the dealer wants $2300. for just the box. No mount, rack, or spoiler. Might have to go for a ride over the border.

Bloomer, I think I do like the looks of the chopped pack that you have. Any regrets not getting the king pack? Also is the backrest usable for the driver?

mrambo4, I also understand your thoughts on the king for space.

Now I just have to decide what will work best for me. Are there any other pros or cons about either size pack, once you got it on your bike? How long did it take once you order your tour pack? skratch thanks for your photo also.

I can tell you the king is heavy and it is hard to man handle.   I will have it on for a trip and then off for everyday rides, probably will not do the ons and offs as much as I thought I would.  If it wasn't for the room I probably would of bought the smaller one.   Just my 2 cents.

I had the king on mine and Terrie's Street Glides....solo position and two up position.  Never had any problems taking them on and off (just take all the crap out of them first).  But I mounted the tour pack racks high up on the garage wall so they wouldn't accidentally be damaged hanging lower.....so it was a bit of a challenge to throw them up over my head to put them on the wall mount and then hit the mounting pins on either side, dead center.

Sorry I66Don66 im not able to give you price break down.  I ordered it from Appalachian HD Mechanicsburg PA and it came in a week later.  I'm glad I went with the smaller pack for the SG sleek elongated look while in 2 up.  During solo trips the added support from backrest is a nice way to relax and enjoy the ride.

OHFLHXSE, sorry I was unable to post picture do to size as Mac won't resize it to acceptable size.
As for back support for rider, I found I was unable to lean back as far as needed with unit adjusted all the way forward. I had to install a spacer plate with new mounting holes to allow it slide forward more. Dealer even thought it was an od setup for a solo yet non functional backrest.
Bloomer, are you comfortably leaning back or????

I'm a big guy with long arms and can lean back with crude control on.  My fingers can't wrap around the hand grips fully but enough to securely control bike.  Was going to bring this up in my earlier post but, thought the handle bars could be adjusted or replaced for physical comfort per rider.

I am the same way on mine, I can lean back and hold the grips, but not wrap them, was hoping when I go do my checkup I can get them to adjust the bars back a few inches and that will make a world of difference.

CVOSGjoe Can you post some pics of your bracket adjustment??

If you want to get real comfortable on this bike, look into Khrome Werks +2 bagger bars, I installed these and made a world of difference. Certainly feels much better than stock bars and much more in control of bike. These should be stock. No wire extensions needed.
