Hard Candy paint problems?
« on: April 22, 2015, 01:20:53 PM »

Hello,

I just bought a new 2015 CVO Street Glide at the end of March 2015 and joined the forum only a few days ago. I was not aware of any paint problems on the cvo's at the time of purchase and I was just wondering if there is something I should look for?

From what I can tell, my hard candy paint looks good. But the flake is so busy that it makes it very easy to miss something.

Can someone please explain what is or was the problem with the 2015 CVO paint. I have searched on the forum but I'm having a hard time finding an answer. I'm sure it has been discussed before and I could use a little reassurance.

Thanks, Jeff

I think its mostly missing paint and clear coat, the alignment of the flames and some poor fit and finish.  The only issue I have (if you can call it one) is the the paint on the bottom of the inside lips of the saddle bag lids are full/consistently painted.  It's the inside of the lid really....I looked at a couple of standard models and they had similar inconsistencies.  Other then the fact that I needed to clay bar it, the paint quality on mine is just as good as the standard models.

NP,
Why did you need to use a clay bar? Just curious as I never have used one.

The paint was rough to the touch on the backs of the saddle bags and the lowers.  Who knows what it was, but clay barring it made it smooth as glass!

Interesting...what are your plans?

I am looking into the latest color release Carbon Crystal, it would be different with the chrome and grey motor vs the black out parts everywhere...
