Your best bet for removing the tank is a second set of hands.  When I did mine, I unbolted the two from bolts under the rubber covers (torx heads I believe) and the two bolts at the back of the tank under the seat.  From there, you just lift straight up.  It will lift with ease.  This is where you have someone hold the tank up while the power cables are ran.  That part won't take long.

As for the speakers, I too had that same concern.  I promise you won't feel that way after you hear them.  The seriously are the best sounding speaker/amp setup you can invest into.

No worries!

Don't let it intimidate you.  The install is really easy, and tank removal on the touring models is cake.  The wiring harness from J&M makes it even easier.

Good luck!

You must also disconnect the fuel line.  It's easy in that they use a quick disconnect fitting like an air tool.  It's a little easier on the holder if you plan on doing the project before  refilling the tank.  The other two lines on the tank will not prevent you from lifting it out of the way while routing the power line to the battery and the ground.

Hey V... I am doing the same install this weekend and will likely have questions.  Write it up if you can... I still don't have my service manual yet and will likely struggle trying to figure out how to remove the outer fairing!!

Thanks,
Mal

Outer fairing comes off easy.
Make sure you get ALL the little screws out from the inner, there are 2 small ones on the bottom near the fork legs......look close, you will see them

Wait a minute, how many breaks do you get in a single day?  Slacker!
