Upgrade for "06 CUSE

Hello Riders,
yet
Wanting to replace the cam tensioners and upgrade oil pump on my '06 CUSE, Just turned 12k mi, no issues (Yet) just a matter of time. I was told the SE camplate kit P/N 25284-08 , still uses a old style rear cam tensioner ? Different set up than the Mo Co uses on the assembly line in the '07 and up ? That does not make sense.  :nixweiss: Members here that have changed and upgraded theirs is that info true ? And which upgrade parts would you rec. using ? And yes, The 253 grind will also be replaced  :apple:

the new upgrade kit uses the 07 tensioners and the 07 pump

but uses the old rear chain - and the old style bearings - but a new front chain.

this allows the use of all the cams listed for a 06 bike to work as is.

so.. later on if you have the bike in to be worked on - the only real special part is the cam plate and the front sprocket - all the other parts are off the shelf & match either the year of your bike or 07 depending on the part.

if you want to change cams while working on it - you just get a cam that is for the year of your bike. if you use the same cam as it has now - then nothing will change.  be sure your tech is GOOD its easy to miss time the rear chain.

In your case a better way to go would be a conversion cam sold by many for the earlier bikes with all the 07up roller chains, tensioners, and new oil pump.
These are OEM 07 up parts right out of the parts book and a conversion cam
A few that have proven effective with those heads are the Woods 6 and Andrews 37n, there are many more and the choice would depend on your payload typically, riding style, and expectations.

Motorman has been putting Andrews kits on with good results. They have cams with new style fronts and old style rears on cams so you can get new style upgrades with out any case work. good luck jdo

This kit uses the original or any aftermarket chain drive cam (99-05 version)

This kit uses HD OEM 07up parts and a conversion cam to update the motorcycle to the late setup without using the morse chain in the rear and without roller / ball bearings in the camplate

My tensioners on the 06 SEUC were not done until 54k.  The dealer did the "Cam Bearing Kit" under the extended.  This included the oil pump, bearings, chains, tensioners, (everything but the cams).  I have four years left on the extended.... I have 71k on the bike - so I'm gonna milk the extended for all it is worth - and then go to gears unless cash is not an issue - then I'll just go to a Jims...
