Title: Installing S&S tappets
Post by: guppytrash on September 17, 2011, 01:47:17 PM
S&S Hydraulic lifters with HL2T Travel limiters
I am about to install these and wondered if it mattered which direction the oil hole faces??

Everything I've read said it didn't matter. I finally decided to face the rear towards the front and likewise for the front to face the rear.

Hi,
Fitted these on my 2007 cvo rk about a year ago, does not matter which way round you fit them, of course making sure fit them with oil holes torwards the inside and outside of the engine.

Did find they worked well, although still had a fair amount of valve train noise after setting the pushrods to the manufactures specs, then about 3 months ago spotted a comment on the S+S website, this stated that many engine builders like to loosen the pushrods by an extra half a turn, this seems to allow the pumping operation of the lifter work better, I gave it a try  and it works, much quieter now.
