One thing I don't like....
« on: September 11, 2014, 02:10:16 PM »

On the '14 model (I don't think it was done between my '09 and the '14) I really really don't like that they fitted the extended heel shifter.  It's too far back for my little feet, and is uncomfortable to reach - I miss gear changes occasionally.    It also doesn't leave a lot of room to get my heel between it and the primary to put the stand down, which WILL result in the chrome of the primary being scuffed.  Anyone got a good as new standard length one they'd like to sell?

I love mine the way its extended back, now my feet do not feel cramped. However I still can't get used to the PTT switch on the right side.

Moving that PTT switch is a disgrace.  An accident waiting to happen there. They moved it, they claim (huh, don't they always?) because "owner feedback" told them we'd prefer it.  So they move the cruise control, which isn't frequently touched, and when it is, doesn't need to be held, to the non-throttle side, and move the PTT which is touched far mode frequently, and needs to be held in, to the hand that's busy controlling the throttle.  The most stupid decision they've made in a long, long, time.  If they felt (goodness knows why) that they had to move it there, why on earth not just make that part the squelch, and add a trigger like the odometer one on the other side for the PTT?

And of course, being CANbus, you can't just swap the wires, and neither can the switch modules be swapped over.

As I said when they sent me the "New Owner Experience Survey"  "...Have lost the plot with pricing, not just on motorcycles, but especially on parts and accessories.  All the while, we are being sold Chinese manufactured poor quality parts at stratospheric pricing.  Build quality is also poor; on a £30k motorcycle I had it delivered with three paint faults, one electrical connector not plugged in, one bolt completely missing (both of these could not have been spotted by the dealership), one fork top cover in chrome and one in stainless (!) - the Infotainment system has more bugs than an entomologist's specimen case, the built in GPS is totally useless for touring, the display resolution is like something from the 1980s, and the CB has a range of around 20 feet (I do not exaggerate!) The idiots who swapped the cruise control with the PTT button should be fired.  The PTT button is in use MUCH more than the cruise control, and trying to use it while trying to manage the throttle is a disaster waiting to happen."

You hit the nail on the head.   :smash:  Some have expressed concern over the brake pedal angle as well. I've grown accustomed to it. But the PTT and Cruise buttons, geez.

Yes, I've seen a lot of folks complain about the pedal angle (my friend has changed his out for a Softbrake one) but it felt fine to me from day 1. Maybe because of my small feet I guess.

I've fixed the CB range problem - replacement CB module.  As the connector to the ground plane in the tour pack had never been connected till I spotted it dangling there, I'm guessing that the SWR was so high that keying the PTT had blown the output.

I'd love to be able to come up with some solution for the PTT though - it is the work of an idiot the way it is.
