FXRG (Shark) Helmets - any experiences?
« on: January 30, 2016, 08:07:20 AM »

I wear a helmet sometimes.  I am now riding where I "have to" more often.  I have an older SHOEI 3/4 that I have liked, but my wife got a newer 3/4 style w/ integrated, retractable visor.  It is pretty cool.  So, I started looking. I saw the FXRG Dual-Homologated Helmet with Integrated Sun Shield (http://www.harley-davidson.com/store/fxrg-dual-homologated-helmet).  Expensive, yes, but is it worth it?  Saw it was an Evoline Series3 made by Shark (http://www.shark-helmets.com/pdf/catalogue/catalogue_2016/#p=44).
Then I browsed their catalog a bit more.  Shark has some cool options (Evoline One, Evoline Series3, RSJ, Heritage). Internet seems to have good reviews.  Anyone have any experiences, good or bad with this brand?

I saw the FXRG (shark)at the local harley store.  First Full face I was ever interested in, but the price was too high.

Biketoberfest 14 I saw the Shark Evoline 3.  It was much less money, but as you pointed out the same helmet.  I like it and have had zero issues with it.  I only wear it in he cold, below 60 and in the rain.  Some times you have to have the shield open a click so it does not fog in the cold, but I ride into the 20's if no ice or snow on the road.  Sure feel a lot safer in the rain with it, visibility is much better than just glasses.

I would try one on and make sure it fits, it shaped in the inside slightly different than most helmets I think.

Read through the archives and you'll find multiple helmet threads. I recall some excellent comments on the Shark helmets, but as Dave pointed out, what fits best often dictates what one decides to purchase.

Homologated helmet  :nixweiss:
Fits US, and Europe's stricter standards and it also does it with both with the chin bar in place as a full face, and with the chin bar all the way up and back as a 3/4 hemet. Very nice feature to have.

"The Ball & Chain" and I have loved the Evoline 3s for going on three years now... We wear them open most of the time, closed when cold / raining.

Along with the Cardo Comms, a great touring set-up!

Purchased from Revzilla, outstanding Customer Service!

Wife and I both have the Sharks. Wear them when the temp get colder. I like the chinbar options. Helmet is a little heavy and noisy but a good price point.

Good helmet but very heavy. Rain seal above visor not 100% reliable either.  Mine doesn't get used much now. Gone back to a jet with full visor.  Rains a lot here.
