In a year or two so I will be buying my first (and and only) harley. I want to ride my training wheels Suzuki C50 for a few more years just to have more miles under my belt.

My favorite bike is the 2012 CVO Street Glide in the Ruby Red or Orange/gunstock colors.
If any owners can help with things to look out for? Issues? Experiences.
All things with engines have issues. Just want to know what your experience has been.

Well first off, you've picked two great color choices! Second, be ready for lots of looks, comments and make sure to keep a drool rag handy to wipe off any excess....

Now, on with the show. Make sure to check that the rectifier recall has been completed. Some had some brake light issues. The '12 is notorious for having lifter issues so may want to check if there were issues or they repaired before there were issues. Not all of us have had lifter problems but that seems be the one constant that keeps coming up. I've had radio issues (had it replaced under warranty) and the amp in the left saddlebag can cause problems if the double stick tape (yes, I said tape) ever lets go.

You may want to do a search on the forum to find more as we have all had some kind of issue (from minor to major) with our '12 SESGs. However, so far it's the best HD product I've had the pleasure of owning (and I've had quite a few). Good luck with the search in a couple of years. You can ALWAYS find a garage queen for sale or a good middle/high mileage option that's been well taken care of.

I have ridden without any issues! Love mine and wouldn't trade it for anything I've seen so far.

Bad year for valve guides. Had play in mine and the exhaust valve stuck open and then the intake valve clipped it causing it to bend...

Beautiful bike. 110 runs hot. Top end is noisy.

gunstock was my first choice, but the guy I ride with has gunstock. I just got mine in Nov trading my 2010 FLHX for the SE3. I love it, it runs great. I added the Fullsac pipes and the TTS tuner. I have 1500 miles on it and love it more with each ride.

So far so good. I'm real happy with mine still. I took out the rear amp and redid everything but the stock radio. Great bike,,, Stuart.

Good Luck finding your '12!! I've never had any problems with mine although I have made some changes that will hopefully help with it's reliability based on posts I've read here from other forum members. Inner cam bearings, lifters, automatic primary chain tensioner, compensator are some things that can be problematic issues that should be addressed. I'm sure you will find different people with different issues but this is like anything else, everything has issues & that's just the way it is. The good thing for you is that hopefully all of the bugs will be worked out by the time you become the proud owner & will have to do nothing but be proud & enjoy the ride!!

No problems with my Black and grey SE3.
Took the V &H Monster rounds oiff and returned to the original HD cans to give my ears a chance of surving my next road trip. Rear speakers waste of time when you are moving. I really need to look into upgrading that amp in the back. The chrome has survived three british winters and theres a sparkle still on the bike. Main beam on the bike sucks. Have replaced to an LED Daylighter. 15000 mile service in the morning, so hopefully nothing major will be found.

Thanks, one of the parts guys at my local dealer told me that they loved it that I got rid of the "old man fender". I had never heard that before but I am glad that I changed it.

Just had an issue with the large chrome ignition switch in that it locked me out. Was unable to turn the switch from steering lock to off to ignition or accessory mode. Seemingly a common fault with the switch. That I was in southern France and the local dealer in Toulouse was closed on a Monday was no problem. The guys at Guildford HD in England talked me through what I had to do. I won't go into it here for obvious reasons but it was a simple temp fix. The bike upon returning to England has since had the problem fixed.

Just replaced the voltage regulator as voltage was all over the place. Also changed out the little black push button that changes the odometer through total miles to journey miles and time. Little switch but batwing off to replace. Slipons back to the V&H Monster Rounds so bike again sounds like a Harley rather than a sewing machine on steroids.

I like my red bikes but the Citrus Orange was a must for me and no problems to date.
Considering chainging the lifters to the New SE ones though with what has been said on here.

The color combo on the 2012's are awesome; however, my black diamond/crimson 2011 is my favorite CVO color...subtle yet not. I don't think you can wrong with either year CVO the 11's and 12's are my favorite CVO's.

11796 feet to the top of Trail Ridge Road fully (over) loaded. Then all over Colorado and Utah. No Problems at 23,000 miles. LOVE this bike! Fingers crossed!

I love my new RGU, but when the '12 SG's came out, I was so in love I couldn't think about any other bike for a long time, but I had two '11's in the stable and there was no way it was gonna happen for me.
My opinion only, but I think that 2012 for the SG was the sexiest year ever. They are completely awesome looking scoots, and I still stare when I see one!
