Advise on buying 2000 SERG Red
« on: October 14, 2014, 08:25:28 PM »

Greetings. I'm about to trade in my 2005 RK and pull the trigger on a 2000 SERG in red with only 6061 miles. 2 owner, each put on 3K. Seems all there, super clean and totally stock minus drivers backrest, fitted cover, fish tails (stock exhaust with tips changed I think) and bag liners. I've been told these are possibly all available from the PO who was fastidious. All bills and documents in the tour pack along with owners manual, service manual, service records etc. Receipts for service are not even wrinkled. Everything works, radio, cruise, all latches etc.

Any thoughts greatly appreciated.  Many thanks. May do the deal tomorrow!

Buy right buy once.  I bought a Limited and traded it the next day because the CVO wouldn't let me sleep.

That appears to be a good deal - low mileage and well cared for from your description...

That seems like a pretty good deal.

The tires may need to be changed because of age, change the fluids to be sure.

Thank all. Did the deal. Pick it up Friday. PO receipts in the tour pak. Engine oil was done in spring, trans and primary in August. . All new brakes in August too and other misc bits and pieces. New tires in 2008. I'll see what they feel like. You could literally eat off this motor anywhere. Ditto the whole bike. It's practically a museum piece. Crazy. Thanks for the great feedback.

Looks to me like you got a great deal. I wouldn't take that for mine & it's got 75k miles. Only things I see not stock are antenna & exhaust tips.  Do check out all the rubber stuff, it deteriorates after 14 years.

Great looking bike! A while back I considered a bike just like yours as a second ride. I am also partial to red bikes! I found my CVO FLHTCSE2 last year with only 1K miles on it. The original owner bought it new and just kept it as a showpiece. It was brand new in every way just like it came out of the dealership. It's going to be my keeper for years to come. Congratulations on your new bike!

Thank folks. Enjoyed a good 1st ride yesterday. Ran great, pulls like a freight train, super smooth and comfortable. Very impressed. Big step up from the RK. Trying to hunt down the PO for the back rests, cover, fishtails and bag liners. Everything else is there including all the manuals and service receipts. New tires in 08' look and feel like new. May change them out in spring, riding season here in New England coming to a close.
