Burn Proof Rain Pants
« on: December 26, 2015, 02:40:03 PM »

I was trying to locate motorcycle rain pants that will not melt to exhaust pipes? Is there such a thing? Seems they are all pvc coated that would melt? What about Goretex pants.  I am considering military goretex pants that hopefully won't melt but they are not high visaility.  Does anyone make a decent pair at a decent Price?
Thanks

Just about all quality motorcycle rain suits have the inside of the leg lined with nomex (what fire suits are made of).

You can get the Tourmaster Elite II two piece rain suit in black, red, yellow, blue, etc.  Like you, I want to really be visable....especially when it's raining or bad weather.   Here is the jacket, put your pointer on the jacket to change colors.....  http://www.revzilla.com/product/tour-master-elite-series-ii-rain-jacket

I also got the matching pants from Revzilla.

Just get the pants.....nomex doesn't melt.  It's a two piece suit but you buy the two pieces seperately so just buy the pants.

http://www.compacc.com/p/tour-master-elite-series-ii-rain-pants-standard-or-nomex?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid_search&utm_campaign=paid_search_google_pla&scid=scplp2819260&gclid=CMPt_s7_-skCFQovaQodEywBNw

Google will bring up many, many options with nomex.

i know there are probably better products out, but H-D has a good rain suit with high visibility & the legs have the burn proof material on the legs, plus a stirrup strap that fits on the bottom of your boot to keep the legs down, zippers & velcro over lap. I think they are reasonably priced. good luck

In your search, look at Aerostitch and their AD-1 or Darien light pants. Expensive, but they are waterproof, windproof, and breath. You can wear them all day, you don't sweat when it's hot, and they are comfortable, especially when it's a bit cold.   You'll never say anything bad about them--- except that they cost alot.

I had the same issue with my rain gear and I used the silver material that ironing board have..took it to a seamstress and explained what I wanted and she took care of it..doesn't look pretty, new it wouldn't, but solved the issue of the melting.
Had her sew a band over the already melted part, then match the other side so at least it matches..Still have the same set, going strong..
Done in '03..
Just a thought..good luck..

Have the HD Hi Vis and my pants seat started leaking the third season.  I use a good tent seam sealer and that has helped a lot, then spay with regular water proof stuff.
