Strange occurance and Code DIAG EMC N NONE
« on: August 27, 2016, 03:06:52 PM »

Hello All

Hopefully this makes sense.  I had something strange start happening with my 2015 CVO Limited yesterday.

Recent Activity

Have just shy of 5,000 miles on the bike

Thursday evening I gave the bike a thorough washing. Dried and put back in the garage for the night

Friday ride to work

Left work and stopped at a grocery store.  Locked the forks and locked everything else with the key fob.

Came our of the store and heard my radio.  Walked up to the bike and all lights were on, the screen was showing the radio station and the system was fully active.

I checked everything over and all seemed fine.

Started the bike and noticed a DIAG message on the odometer screen.  Turned the bike off and restarted the notice went away.

Today while putting on a coat of wax the everything turned on again all by itself.

Then  the DIAG came back along with ECM N then showed NONE on the odometer screen.

Any ideas?

See pics attached below

Thanks in advance

Jason

Harley has had issues with the handle bar switch controls on the Rushmore bikes.  I've now had mine replaced twice; the second time with updated switches / new part numbers.  The original switch gear are susceptible to water intrusion.  Recommend you thoroughly dry right side gear with warm air blower (blow dryer, leaf blower, etc.)  Then clear codes and see if "code"  returns.  Either way, tell dealer of the issue and ask that switches be replaced under warranty.  If the bike can come on without warning; it can turn off without warning and both are safety issues.

Update!  I cleared the codes.  Dried all of the switched very well.  No more codes and everything is working as it should.  I noticed the trip/odo button wasn't working properly until everything was dried out.

Thanks again for the suggestion.  It seems that was the case.

Don't forget to bring this to Harley's attention and get it on record.  Unless you blasted the switches with a high pressure washer, you should not have had this problem and if you don't have them install the latest versions it will happen again.  All the switches should be waterproof, but obviously someone at Harley or the supplier didn't get the memo.

Glad to hear things worked out. Curious to hear what the dealer says.

Yes, I will be getting it into the dealer to get this documented and hopefully changed our.  No high pressure washing or strong water pressure from the garden hose.

Thanks again guys
