No more boots from Harley???
« on: May 10, 2013, 03:28:55 PM »

I was price checking on the Harley website and didn't see any boots in the motorclothes section.
Is Harley still selling boots or are they just licensing to a vendor?
If so, who is the vendor?

They've been selling Chinese boots for a whole lotta years, so I guess China was the vendor.  And I noticed the same thing on their new online store; if you search for boots the only things that come up are boot straps and boot cut jeans.  No actual boots.  Hmmmmmmmmm.

I haven't been in a Harley shop in many months, but the last time I was they didn't have any new boot inventory, just leftovers from previous years.  Maybe boots are no longer considered a necessity for riding a Harley?  Or more likely people spent their money elsewhere on better quality boots made somewhere other than China so dealers quit ordering from Harley.

I really don't know, but all the local dealers here have no shortage of Harley boots?

I have yet to find a boot better for riding and all day wear and comfort and protection than the FXRG boots I have.

That said the pair of boots I had from Harley before the FXRG were the worst boots I ever had for quality and durability.

A pair of Harley boots I bought in 2002 are still in working condition, very worn, sure out lasted the worst pair.

There are several boots out there that are much more comfortable (and water proof) than any boot that Harley has their name on.......and, for a whole lot less money.

You might want to test drive a pair of Original Swat 9" Classics w/side zipper or a pair of Cruiserworks boots.  Both just a much, much more comfortable, lighter and better grip soled boot. :2vrolijk_21:

The FXRG boots are a very superior boot to the Swat or other similar brands (Ridge, Bates, Wolverine etc). I have used the Original Swat, and the Florida based Ridge 9000 as well as the FXRG. The Ridge is the best of the cheaper boots in my opinion but none of them come close to the FXRG. But if price is a concern then the Ridge or Swat are about half as much as the HD boot.

X2.

My current riding boots, I wear daily because of bad ankles.

I just go to my local shoe repair guy and get them resoled with a "Vibram" sole when they wear down.

The tread last longer, looks better, and a lot cheaper then new boots.

I thought only the FXRG boots were wolverine.

I see there is now a FXRG-5

I was about to take my -3's back to the dealer for warranty because the leak a bit. Then my wife's new dog took care of the toe.
