New CVO Street Glide Owner Checking In!
« on: October 27, 2014, 05:35:16 PM »

Hi All,

Recently purchased a 2015 CVO Street Glide (Silver/Black).  It's my first bagger and I must say I should have bought one years ago.  Been riding a 2005 Screamin Eagle V-Rod and briefly owned a Kawasaki Concours 14.

I have changed the Exhaust to something more appropriate for a bike of this caliber, lowered it down a bit with new rear shocks and added heated grips, CVO Seat Back Rest, and Passenger Footboards.  I am happy with the feel of the factory seat and the seating position and handle bar position fits me well.  I do get a bit of buffeting on my helmet above 65mph and tried a different windshield but the stock one performed best for me as I do not like looking through the windshield.

Looking to bump up the HP a little without losing reliability and I welcome any suggestions.  I have been scouring the Internet trying to find the 110ci build specs with no luck.  I'd like to know what cam is in these, what kind of headwork from SE, Induction system, etc.

Here are a few pics........Thanks for allowing me to join this forum!

Tom

Looks great!  My HC Mercury glide is supposed to ship from Harley next week.  I hope I get to ride it before the snow flies here in Iowa.

Congrats and welcome!! I have a deposit on the same color. As far as the cams go the 110" comes stock with the HD 255's. Not sure about anything else. Check the twin cam section of this site, plenty of info there regarding motor work.

As far as I know its still the 255's. I believe they are also used in the 103" Street Glide Special and Road Glide Special.

Bout time you moved up from a cvo vrod to a cvo street glide,lo I mis my v-rods,still one of my favorite Harley's to ride, but after having baggers  with killer stereos and places to carry beer,It's hard to enjoy the vrod for long rides.I'm still waiting for a cvo bagger v-rod.Congrats on the new bike.

Thanks for the posts!  I keep the bike in North Georgia.....the mountain roads are among the best anywhere for riding and now with all of the fall colors, the bikes are out in droves.  Already ran the Tail of the Dragon and Cherohala Skyway.  I'm trying to get 1000 miles on it so I can change out the break in oil and throw it on the dyno to tune the exhaust and whatever other bolt ons I can find that will make it stronger.  It has 930 miles on it now.

Will look into the cam issue.

Regarding exhaust, I went with the CFR after listening to several different mufflers all on the same day.  The dealer, Hellbender HD in Marietta was excellent to work with and had no issues with starting several bikes with different slip on mufflers so we could compare.  IMHO the CFR was hands down the best....a deep throaty tone but with no drone and loud enough to get attention in traffic, but not as obnoxious as straight pipes.  Very fitting for the style of this bike.

Reading posts about cleaning for the different color CVO's out there, I don't find cleaning to be that bad...i'm not hard core and try to avoid riding in the rain.  Put some good wax on the fairing and the bugs come off easy.  The bags don't get any dirt on them, only a bit of road grime/brake dust/exhaust on the back surface and that comes off easy.  The bags come off real quick and easy so you can get to the rear wheel and exhaust for cleaning.  I'm so smitten by this bike that cleaning it is not a chore but another opportunity to stare at it and enjoy the stereo system while tinkering with the cleaning duty.

If anyone is near North Georgia, feel free to PM me should you feel like getting together for a ride.

Thanks again,

Tom

NOTE:  I attached a pic of my V-ROD.  I do miss that bike.  I owned it since 2006 and it had only 7000 miles on it when i traded it on the SG.  It made 130 RWHP with just SE Exhaust and a Powercommander.  Just wasn't good for riding more then about an hour at a time.  Hard on the back and the 3 gallon tank didn't go too far between fill ups....but what a quick and sexy machine!

Great looking ride.  I love the color.   Get a Windvest.   That will really help with buffering,,,  they make a great shield.  I had a bunch.  Had the best luck with theirs.  Good look and enjoy the new bike.   Stuart.
