Paul Yaffe 4" Supertrapp Kerker stout slip-ons
« on: September 14, 2011, 12:16:32 AM »

I was just wondering if anybody has tried these out. Here is what they are claiming "SuperTrapp Stout Slip-Ons provide a heavy, broad spread power curve right from idle w/ a 9.3 (16%) hp and 10.5 (14%) torque gain over stock (measured on a stock 2010 FLH)".
Here is a video about them

Nice mufflers but $650 for a pair of slip ons?

I'd go with the Fullsac cores for either the CVO or stock mufflers.  Likely get the same performance or better at 1/3 or less the cost.  Or even the Klock Werks SS mufflers at around $300.

So a pair of mufflers are directly responsible for increasing HP/Torque 9.3/10.5?
Without any other mods?
I'm not saying it's impossible but you can color me skeptical...

I realize these are not cheap but they don't seem to be any higher than Rhineharts. I was hoping someone has tried these or knows someone who has. If they even made 5 or 6 hp and had a good sound to them they might be a good choice. Supertrapp sells them for less but Yaffe says that he modifies his making them sound better. I don't know, I'm just trying to keep an open mind and make an educated choice on a exhaust system. Instead of just jumping into whatever is the common choice.

How loud are we talking? How would you compare them to Rhinehart's or CFR's

Never heard the CFR's but in my  opinion louder than Rhineharts. I only heard them once & they drowned out the other pipes. Sounded great @ idle. Apparently once PYO gets hold of them they pull out all the packing. I would like to hear a set with the packing still intact.

I have kerker stouts with the cat still in the header and it is only loud when on the gas, at cruising speed they are almost as quiet as stock mufflers..way quieter then cfr's and rhineharts

I say BS on the part of him modifing the mufflers to get them to sound better outside of maybe removing the packing, that would alter the muffler, void the warranty, and also potentially create liabilities for the manufacturer.  Probably his way of getting his price versus competitive pricing you may find elsewhere?

Yep, I'm considering the Kerkers, I am looking at those over the CFR's..I have no noise level issues here in Michigan.

Thanks for the info!

I was under the impression that if you install the right muffler bearings you can get the horse power gains mentioned and also maintain the EPA noise laws. :pineapple: :pepper: :jalapeno: :2vrolijk_21:

I have the Kerker Stouts on my CVO now. Mean sounding pipe. Very low growl to them. As of now I still have the cat in. That being said, I really dont know if there is a power gain. I did find this out. If you install these even if you dont change your head pipe, you will need to have your bike tuned. Mine is running a little too lean now and I'm getting a little decell pop and once in a while will backfire and stall while idling in gear. maybe after a tune you will see a gain in power.
