A member of the Oklahoma PGR Roger Ayers was on the way to mission to honor a WWII/Korean Veteran when a teenage girl pulled out in front of him he did not have time to even apply any brakes before impact the witness say he was thrown 20 - 25 feet into the air over the SUV and landed on the opposite side of the vehcile on the roadway. This was approximately 10:00 a.m. Friday morning he has had 4 surgeries so far and has a good prognosis but will be a long recovery. Shattered pelvis, broken femur, broken arm and some interal organs severly damaged they are keeping him in an induced coma for the time being. He is a good safe biker and very well thought of in the Oklahoma PGR just posting this as a reminder for all of us to be aware of what is going on around us at all times the second bike in the group avoided any type of collision by going onto the grassy side of the road all the bikes were traveling at or below the speed limit. The thoughts are the teenager was on the phone or texting when she pulled out in front of the bikes.

Get well soon, Roger.
-
Sorry to hear this. Hopefully he has a full recovery. Too bad so many people have their heads up their asses that things like this happen.
-
Hate to hear this. Sometimes experience can't save you from an IDIOT. Wishing him a full and speedy recovery. :(
-
Please send along my wishes and prayers for a speedy recovery.
-
Don't worry y'all.
She'll be back on the road in no time.
Forgive the cynicism! However, it's epidemic, IMHO. And, no, I don't want the .gov to solve the problem.
Get well soon fellow PGR rider. Damn shame.

Always hate to hear of someone going down. Even worse when they are on a mission of goodwill. Prayers are with the rider.
-
So sorry to hear about your friend! We'll keep him in our prayers.
-
Prayers for Roger, jail for the teenager i hope.
-
Heal Fast, Heal Well, never like hearing about any Rider who has fallen due to irresponsible drivers, any age !

X2 Well said my friend. Hope he gets well soon.

Hi Flash:
Sorry to hear about our PGR Brother going down. Do you have any updates? This is a good reminder to not take for granted anyone sees us. I doubt he could have done anything different, but it will make me even more circumspect as I ride, even with a group.
Has the driver been charged? Hope she has good insurance.
Prayers for his healing are on the way.

Thank you all for the thoughts and comments. Roger is still in a induced coma and in the trauma ICU was taken off the rotobed on Monday this week taken to surgery where they repaired his broken femur, the break in the front of his pelvis, the tear in his bladder during a pretty long surgery. The other injuries will have to wait for a while. Today he is responding to pain and opening his eyes to voice but is still a long way from leaving the hospital. We all know some that have been injured and all know that it could be us but Roger always agreed with the glass half full theory of life and would never think of going through life being afraid of the half empty part. The other participant in the accident has been to the hospital and there has not been any disposition of the event as of yet I am pretty sure they are waiting until the prognosis is more clear. Ride Safe/Ride Hard and enjoy life.

So sorry to read of this riders injuries. Brings back to mind my similar accident (?) of last May. No way to avoid someone who darts right into you at the last moment and then it's just a matter of how seriously you get hurt. My prayers are with him as he is in for a long bit of suffering. It's part of the life we live riding in traffic, but so many of these encounters could be avoided....it's just a bad deal all around. spyder

Excellent news! Thank you for keeping us posted. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Good news on breathing on his own. Good luck on speedy recovery.

Surgery today is underway to repair tib/fib fracture and the toes on the other foot. Intubation will be removed tommorrow if all goes as planned. Information I have received from another rider that was at the scene says the other driver involved received citations for inattentive operation of a motor vehicle and failure to yield.
-
Glad to hear he is doing better. Sure doesn't seem right thats the only tickets they recieved for almost killing someone.

Roger is doing well today the intubation tube has been removed he is breathing on his own and talking some movement is still painful as they have reduced his pain management meds. Not out of the danger completely but is doing remarkably well on this 18th day.

Roger is healing nicely he is now walking on his own and this last Saturday the Downed Bikers Association held a benefit run for him and another brother that went down in similar incidents. Roger rode as the BSR on a trike he was in the wind for a ride of about 50 miles or so and told all it is one of the best days of his life. Soon he will be back and riding on his own. Thanks to all for the thoughts and well wishes he enjoyed reading the posts on this forum.

Sounds like Roger is on the right path and healing well, it would be nice to see him in pictures when he is on his own in the wind. :2vrolijk_21: :2vrolijk_21:

Great news! Thanks again for the updates. Hope Roger is on his own wheels as soon as he can ride. We all know it could have been much worse. Praise God he is recovering well and on his way to full health again.
Anything on the kid that pulled out in front of him? Have they determined why this nincompoop was not looking for traffic before pulling onto the road?
-
Glad he is doing good!! :2vrolijk_21:

This last Saturday Roger rode his Honda 250 in a patriotic parade flying our colors proudly similar to the way he rides PGR missions just on a smaller bike. In January he was supposed to be DRT at an accident scence near Norman Oklahoma from the beginning after coming out of the coma part he has said he will ride again. Two weeks ago he rode as BSR on a trike at a benefit run here he is this last Saturday.
