You just might like the "look" better,  but if you happen to drop the scoot over even in a "crawl" mode like a parking lot.  Without those bag "hoops" as you call them.........you very likely will damage the back lower corner of one of the bags with that custom paint job on it.

Just sayin' :nixweiss:

Yeah, I guess that is why they don't put them on Road Glides or Street Glides. Just saying...

Correct..........That is why I (added) them to my 2014 StreetGlide Special.  Consequently a few weeks later,  I attempted to negotiate a very tight U turn on a deadend street with my wife on the back.  I did not keep up enough speed and we went down going literally "zero" mph.  No injury to me,  but wife broke a bone in her hand due to the fall.

Bike had zero damage,  but I noted that the rear of the bag was no more than an inch off the pavement and was held there due to the bag "loop" as you call it.  Without,  the bag would have gotten gouched and paint damage would have occurred.

Just sayin' :drink:

Actually,  I didn't add those bag bars for that reason.  For my last two prior Harleys,  I have had those leather bags that snap onto those bag bars and kept them.  They come in very handy if you take a trip and want to carry some extra tools, etc.

I wanted to be able to add those small bags to the SG Special whenever I might take a long trip.

I much prefer the look without the guards, and if you have a small wife, she hates hitting them on the backs of her legs. Took them off the 2006 and was very happy, the 2005 didn't have them (Guess the MOCO didn't think 2005s fell over) so no need to remove them. My thought is simple, Don't drop your bike!

Hey Dave, if I go down to the Pasadena Motor Comp, I'll get you on the course durring practice to see how well that theory holds up.  :P

I also added the '12 derby cover.

Ditto... That was one of the first mods that was done, for cosmetic and functionality reasons. Looks better and BSR is not tall enuff to reach the footboards with the bars hitting the back of her legs, so... take them off.

Did the derby cover too. Looks better than the old one with nothing on it.

dooinit2u nice...

I was at the AZ Bike Week kick off last Sunday, in Cave Creek, it was amazing. Most of the baggers didn't have the hoops.

I am looking at Bassani true duals next. Hoping they will help the inner right thigh cook off.

Maybe I shouldn't mention I took the motor hoop off my Sporty too.  :'(
