Tour Pak issue
« on: March 24, 2016, 12:33:35 PM »

Hey guys when I added the tour pak to the CVO I put it on an adjustable mount not that I ever move it. The issue is the bolts with the cam levers used to loosen and tighten the bolts will not stay tight even on a 20 mile ride. I always check them and they are always loose. I finally lost one a couple of weeks ago and now I'm think about taking a 4 out and just replacing them with normal bolts and red locktight. Sound like a fix to you guys? Any better suggestions? Pretty sure I will not be able to find or buy the missing cam bolt.

Mike,

A picture or two would help.  From what you are saying, I don't think the type of bolt matters. I would use blue Loctite, however. Red is only used for those things you never expect to loosen again.   Hope this helps.

I can't picture exactly what this looks like but I do agree the blue Loctite is what you want.  You could also use a nylon locking nut or even double nuts to lock them in place. I use the blue Loctite on bike and boats all the time.

Cant use the nuts because the threated piece is inside the sliding rail. I'm going to try the bolts with the blue!

Lew, is it a kuryakyn adapter that failed. I think they are the ones that make the adjustable feature. You are on track with the bolts and blue lock tite however I would get in touch with them and explain what's going on. Even if they don't have a fix at least you are giving them feedback on manufacturing issues. I know when ever I have had an issue with one of their parts they have always helped me out, even going as far as replacing the part.

Well thanks that sound like a great idea. Its a crappy design, but a good idea. I will reach out to them.
