After looking for some license plate frame options, I settled on the HD billet plate frame.  I could have gone Kuryakin or Yaffee, but I think the look this one.  It gave me a reason to take it for a ride an take some good pic with my DSLR....

To me Reinharts are the classic Harley sound.   I have had them on true duals and I think that sounds even better with say X pipe.

I posted a video in the intake and ECM section check it out!

Nice looking bike! :2vrolijk_21:

Regarding your power duals I have the same headers on mine, however I noticed my right floorboa d vibrates more than it should, and thought the mounting arm must be touching the exhaust ,so I decided to take a look, and on removal the rear floorboard arm was touching the heat shield and also the exhaust itself and has ground a groove into it!
Can you tell me does yours have plenty of clearance?
I loosened the heat shield but there is not enough adjustment to stop it touching ,so my only option was to shim the mounting arm out with a couple of washers.
Any one else have this problem?

The kit comes with floor board spacers, make sure they are on!

Hmmm , never seen these spacers ,they must have been left on my previous road king by dealer.
Are these spacers for front and back bracket and how thick are they,?
A picky would be very much appreciated buddy :2vrolijk_21:

I just installed power duals on my bike with the supplied spacers and it still touches the heat shield on both sides of the floorboard arm...no adjustment room. May have to either grind down the heat shield a little or add a second spacer.

I ended up grinding the slot for the floorboard arm bigger on the heat shield. The blurry spot on the chrome is just clear coat to protect the metal. I would rather do that than have it rub...and thats with the spacers

Everything else on the power duals fit perfect, and I have installed them on 2 other bikes. This bike seems like the angle of the floorboard arms is different..doesn't line up correctly to the slot in the heat shield. Even if I had of doubled up on the spacers it would have hit. The chrome did hold up great to the grinding though, and is not even noticeable when everything is put back together.

It looks like the installer rolled in a little...like tapped with a hammer because it's a little waves.  It doesn't look the best, but it fits and you can't see it. So obviously, Vance and Hines needs to cut the slot more.

That spacer comes with the kit if you ordered part # 16849 .. hope this helps.

Thanks plustiano!,
I have looked into this in depth as this spacer in my opinion is not thick enough to give satisfactory clearance it's only 1/8" thick,
this spacer I found the dealer had left on my road king Cvo I traded , hence my new bike did not have it fitted so it was rubbing and caused vibration and ground a groove into my floorboard arm and heat shield to which my dealer is now going to replace with new bits.

Anyway more to the point I spoke with vance and Hines and they do a separate spacer kit especially for the Cvo's as the rear arm is thicker,

Part no: 16937 is what you need guys! And is available from "Dennis Kirk" he has stock all others are on back order till 26th may, so hurry guys!

Now in the literature that comes with the duals it mentions you only need a longer bolt for the Cvo models at the front mount, not true in my opinion, this thicker spacer kit I mentioned should be supplied in addition with the other parts, with the thinner spacer I think it gives ok clearance on standard models as floorboard arm is different.
I suggest all those who have  power/true duals from vance and Hines on this Cvo check again clearance even with this thin  spacer supplied in the exhaust kit ...it's not enough! Under load the engine can move easily 1/4" in any direction so allowance needs to be made for this.

$25 from Dennis Kirk gets you piece of mind!.....mines ordered....hope this helps pipsqueeks :2vrolijk_21:

X2 absolutely!

They also need to enlarge the slot near the brake pedal arm as that is a wee bit too close for my liking..... Get yourself this spacer kit I mentioned previously it should help!

It should help, but the slot cut out is at the wrong angle. Vance and Hines should have a different heat shield/different part number for the cvo's or list it as such. I'm sure they are aware of this. I hate bandaids on a bike this expensive. I'll order one and try it even though I grinded the slot larger. a little extra space couldn't hurt. Thanks for posting that

Yeah I know it is bloomin annoying, the slot is totally wrong shape not only at the floorboard but also at the brake pedal point.... And you can't adjust it enough to give you a " happy medium".

The space from the actual pipe where the heat shield is cut and the floor board arm is good.  I started it up and let it run (is raining) and the board isn't making contact anywhere, so it's not vibrating.  It doesn't make contact, even on a cold start up.  The installer got the cut out aligned pretty good....he "modified" it on the top part of the cut out where you have to get under the bike to see. It looked like it needed 1/8", so he tapped it.  Since its not vibrating or making contact, I'm just gonna leave it.

I just spoke to vance and Hines today, and they  said  that they are well aware of this clearance issue with the front heat shield and that it actually also touches the brake lever,
I mentioned the heat shield needs re-designing to which they replied they will be looking into doing this!

I called them today too, they are sending my the CVO spacer kit because I said that there is no mention that the kit is needed or even existed!  My brake lever has plenty of clearance, it's the floor board arm cut that the installer bent a little that is close.  I'm probably going to order a new heat shield just I know it's done right.  Oh well....maybe they should include the spacers when you buy it....if you don't need them, don't use them.

The brake lever is fine, they are sending me the spacer kit for free, they sent it out today, so I'll have them by the end of the week.  I also ordered a new front heat shield for $120 but it's gonna take 4-6 weeks.  Everything clears because the tapped the top of the cut out some how, the back arm of the floor board has about 1/8" between the cut out and the arm, the kit will fix it.  I ordered the new heat shield because I'm a smidge anal about my stuff.

You'd think you can get the heat shield in less the 4-6 weeks!  What's wrong with the rear arm?

Your lucky Nicky , I have to wait sometime in July for my heat shield as the distributors need to make up a big order!.
my rear arm got damaged by heat shield as the dealers never fitted any spacer to start with as they left it on my previous bike, so there negligence is costing them these 2 new parts.
Anyway I fettled out my heat shield today to give it good clearance and am pleased with it, so will keep this on till new shield comes and will have to do same thing on new one when it arrives, personally think what I have done will be close to what the new heat shield will be when/if they ever get round to redesigning it!. :)

I had the kit put on today, and it gives the clearance needed.....I just wish Vance and Hines sent the kit with the system.  The new heat shield will take a month to get, and the rear arm has some scratches, so when they swap the heat shield, I'll get a new arm too.  Normal people probably wouldn't notice, but I do, so it's gonna get fixed!

PS.
Vance and Hines, mention the spacer in the special notes section of your website like you do for other similar issues.

After looking for some license plate frame options, I settled on the HD billet plate frame.  I could have gone Kuryakin or Yaffee, but I think the look this one.  It gave me a reason to take it for a ride an take some good pic with my DSLR....

I have the same one and have recieved many a kudo's for it.
