Anyone coming from CVO Road Glide to CVO Street Glide?
« on: May 12, 2015, 11:00:01 AM »

Howdy.  I just sold my 2012 CVO Road glide.  Long Story...

However, I am on the prowl for a new bike.

I expected I would get another road glide, but the CVO SG (Black with subtle flames) is really calling me..

Any experience out there going to the SG after years of love with that RG fairing?

Would like to hear any input on the wind/ride experience overall.
Thanks.

Im in for the CVO SG, or I will buy a vivid black RG and build my own CVO out of it.
Thanks

I'd say it'll be back next year, see my previous post on a different thread,
Also think they'll be a breakout Cvo again, obviously Cvo limited and street glide Cvo.

If you like the shark nose maybe you can wait too see what next year brings regarding Cvo roadie custom, as building up a stock one to Cvo specs is not cost effective and you'll be real peeved if after you've done up a stoker they do launch a custom roadie....just my 2cents!

It's already May. Why not wait another 3.5 months and see?

I have never ridden a RG so I'm no help to you. Stop by a dealer and take a SG for a test ride. Do you have a friend that owns a SG that will let you take it for a spin?

Two members on this forum, both from Nor Cal, own both.  They both say pretty much the same thing.....that the RG is fun to ride in the twisties, etc. but that the batwing (Street Glide and/or Ultra Classic) will always be their long distance road bike for comfort.  They both answered this in a similar post in the past.

The answer here is somewhat subjective and dependent on the year of the bikes you wish to compare.   :nixweiss:

There previously may have been a real debate as to the superiority of the Batwing vs. Sharknose farings but as of 2015, there is no contest.  In early March, I thoroughly tested both a CVO Limited and RGU, over 180 miles back to back with fairing vents open and closed.  Both had stock windshields.  The balance, stability, handling, aerodynamics and wind management of the Road Glide in zero to 40 plus mph winds is remarkable and far superior.  The Limited is a great ride but the Road Glide is just better and more comfortable, especially in high cross and head winds.   On both bikes, the smoothest ride was with all vents open.  That's my review and I'm sticking to it!    :coolblue:

From a production point of view it's a no brainier , they already have all the parts in the current models , just put a shark nose on a Cvo street glide and there you go, They'd be mad not too!
.... However I think they will probably do a blacked out version, black wheels, engine etc now that would be nice for you shark nosers out there!!!

I owned both, 2009 cvo roadglide and 2012 cvo street glide, i prefere roadglide, its much more stable in corners and speeds over 70 mph. I might sell my street glide and get a 2016 road glide. But again i have 120r on it hard to decide really.

My first bike was a left over 08' RG from the financial collapse that I bought in the spring of 09' - put 45k miles and another $25k in mods on her, loved every moment until I traded on a beautiful typhoon maroon 13' Cuse8 (also owned the 08' SERK). That was a good bike, although it always felt like I was riding a big scooter because of the "small" EG fairing and much closer riding position. And at high speeds the SEEGU was much less stable than my 08' RG. When the 15' SERGU came out last year it was a no brainer for me and the bike rides amazingly, best in the HD line up for sure as a touring ride. Once you are a RG'er it's hard to enjoy anything else.

Ordered the New CVO roadglide, waited 3 months, got it in February and it is a TANK, unbelievably heavy, and not overly graceful, So my great Friends at the dealership allowed me to back out of the Roadglide and switch to the Streetglide,  MUCH BETTER
