Hammock Seat on 2013 CVO
« on: August 02, 2013, 07:35:47 PM »

I put the Harley Hammock on my RG.
Whats great!
1. Supremely comfortable. Sits you about an inch higher and a good amount of back support. Only rode it for 50 miles today but I would say one of the most comfortable seats I have ever owned (including Mustangs, Corbins etc).
2. Very easy fit. Don't need to remove the fender strips and actually the dual studs for the riders solo fit neatly in the big cavity under the seat. I just screwed on the studs, made sure they were tight and put the seat over them. Lined up perfectly, didn't need to bend it down etc.
3. Momma's gonna love the passenger section. Big and comfy.

Whats not:
1. The short upright sissy bar wont fit. Should I get the tourpak or a standard upright?.....Decision time
2. Definitely not as sleek as the stock seat and the tongue of the seat is snug up against the console and overlaps it by a bit. Doesn't look bad but probably will put some paint protector tape where it overlaps.

At my age, comfort wins over style everytime so overall very pleased.

Looks great!  I have the heated version.  Very comfortable.  A detachable king tour pack is nice to have.

Yeah, I'm leaning that way. Will make a decision this weekend.

I think your seat looks totally awesome!   :2vrolijk_21:  I would get the adjustable backrest if I was you.  I have it on my seat and I really like it.

Okay, if you insist... Why not inlay a nice alligator skin up the center section of the seat to match your beautiful paint?  Something like the 110th Anniversary bikes have, only do it right with some alligator!

     :2vrolijk_21:

I'm sure you wife will be much happier with that more comfy seat.

if the wife is an issue go with the tourpac my wife has done 13 hours on the back on our last 2 roadtrips and although thats a little excessive she did it and didnt complain too much ... then you will have the bike I want .. my plan one day is to be able to take off the tourpac and put the smaller seat on so I have a convertible and maybe get rid of my bar hopper.

I've got the Hammock for the 2-up too.  One thing I've learned.  If it looks good, it ain't comfortable, and if it's comfortable, it don't look good!

Seat discussions are always interesting. So many viewpoints, and everyone is built differently... So what works for one person doesn't work at ALL for another.

I tried a Hammock, but it didn't work for me at all. It sat me up too high and the width of it made it more difficult to remain flat-footed. Some of my taller and larger friends really like it though. I'm only 5'9" and 165. I bought it slightly used and sold it for what I paid for it.

But I absolutely LOVE my Corbin DualTour. I bought it here almost brand new for a very good price. It's perfect for me because I sit down lower, and it has orange and silver stitched flames on it that match the bike. I think it's both beautiful and comfortable, at least for me. It's not so good for the BSR tho... so I also have a Mustang Super Touring Wide Vintage seat for two-up riding, with the rider backrest built in, and a matching TP backrest. It's comfy for both of us and looks good, too. It's not as cool-looking as the Corbin tho.

I think it works better for larger, taller riders.
