2012 Tour-Pac
« on: February 19, 2012, 11:34:23 PM »

I was looking a Texas fat Boys pictures. He has the Black/Slate 12 SESG and his chopped TP is only slate with no graphics. Does anyone else have or have seen a chopped or king TP in Black/Slate.  graphics? no graphics? I know the red and citrus bikes have graphics on both sizes of Tour-Pacs.

I believe that it's the same for the black. The HD P&A says that both the chopped and king tour paks have the phantom flames. Razor does not.

I know that's what the book says but in these pics the chopped is just Slate with no black.  Sooo  :nixweiss:

If you haven't already done so, shoot TFB a PM and ask what tour pak he has on his bike.

Just a suggestion.

Will do.  Just wondering if he's the only one with a factory matched TP or if anyone else has pics to share.   Looks like I'm really close to getting my new bike.  WooHoo

I believe the king has the ghost flames and the chopped does not.

Take a look through this thread. Near the end you can see a chopped tour pak. I don't see the flames on it though.

Yeah looks like the chopped in the citrus and the red have the two color graphics w/o the flames and the king has the flames also. I haven't seen a slate/black chopped or king with any graphics. I have the P&A catalog which says it should have graphics but as of yet I haven't actually seen any pics of one with them.

I had a Chopped Tour Pak (that I already owned) painted in the Dark Slate.
I could not find a decent picture for my painter to use for the side graphics.

I do not believe the Chopped pak graphic comes with ghost flames though.

My painter did match the Von Dutch style pin stripe off my rear fender to the top of the Tour Pak:

I have the slate chopped tour pak and there are no ghost flames on it. There are two stripes or whatever you call them on the outside bottom corners. I will try and post a pic tonight. Out the door price is about 2,200 bucks. You need to buy the mounting plate, docking kit, lock, and back rest pad. Then drill the tour pac to match the plate.

When I get my Ruby Red King Tour Pac next week I'll post pictures of it in all it's glory. There's a chopped tour pac I saw on line on a citrus SG I'll post those pictures too.

I was looking for info on the CVO painted TP, but after seeing the price I think I'll be painting the King pack from my 09 painted to match minus flames/graphics.  Hopefully it looks ok.

One question what are the two black tab looking things in your second pic?

I'm not sure. Came from the factory that way. I guess maybe a wear strip for the back pad?

Those black tab looking things in the second pic may be an anti-abrasion thingy majig. On one of my tour pacs there was a clear plastic film under the edge of the back rest on the lid.

The "tabs" or whatever they are should be mounted such that the hard plastic shell of the passenger backrest rubs on them, not the paint.  Make sure they are positioned correctly, if they are I'm pretty certain you shouldn't be able to see them sticking out like that.  My factory installed chopped TP had two such "rub pads", but they were not visible unless you lifted the top of the backrest and looked underneath.

Mike - from all I've read here and elsewhere, the Chopped color-matched 2012 CVO Tour Paks - regardless of color - have the two-tone paint and the stripes... but not the phantom flames. Only the King Tour Paks appear to have the flames on them from the factory. The description in the P&A Catalog says the Chopped Tour Paks have the CVO graphics and phantom flames, but apparently they don't. I have not seen a Chopped 2012 color-matched CVO TP in any color that has the flames on it. Glad I went with the King TP!

Like the looks of the chopped size better the paint on the king better soooo. Don't really need either very often at least I don't have to decide for awhile.

Lvngd, which back pad is this in this pic? Do you have the part #? If this is the RG matched pad, is it a close match to your SG seat?

Thanks,

I have been hating the look of Harry's pet palace. A friend jokingly suggested I should get a tour pack and put a hole in the lid for Harry is can get it matched. I only have a solo seat, anyone have any ideas? I think the chopped would be too short. If the king pack were big enough, I'd love to make the front half for Harry and the back half for actual storage and put his hole near the backrest. Lately, he has been riding with his back feet in the pet palace, his front paws on the top of my backrest and his head on my shoulder, awwww.

The other thing beside cost that would make it more difficult is that the pet palace has lots of ventilation which helps in the Nevada heat.

I also had suggested maybe that I could get someone to do paint work on the canvas, but that'd just probably turnout looking tacky.

Are there any non HD options that wouldn't break the bank? I have seen awesome color matching work on this site......

It's probably not realistic but that grey pet palace just breaks the red "vibe" lol.

Ok, been kicking around ideas with Harry's situation and my limited storage.

Talked to Joe, had some great ideas. I then started doing some of my math and it really adds up. Talked to my parts guy, and started tossing numbers around, and it starts getting close to a grand anyway I look at it.

My question, has anyone put their tour pack on with a solo seat? I haven't seen any pics that I can recall. I guess I would have to lose my C&C solo backrest, but, if the king pack is easy to detach, that'd be a good way to go. My friend has used his pet palace on the rack on top of the tour pack,  so I am just starting to look at that as an idea.

Manchester HD Superstore has the painted King pack for $1199 with about 40 for shipping with their online price.

not a king tourpack, chopped.  but have both my bike and the wife's bike set up this way.  extremely comfortable, and still looks halfway decent.  i figure if we can't fit everything we need in 2 tourpacks, and 4 saddlebags, then we don't need it  :2vrolijk_21:

I found a picture of a C&C pad, that shows the solo seat backrest still there. I am hoping that might work, just get the top pad to match the red stitching and leather type.
