I test rode a 2014 cvo road king at laconia this past June.  I was not impressed with the ergonomics...in particular the shifter felt as is it was tucked too close to the engine and the handle bars were not to my liking. It was my first time on a touring mode...so it is probably just some issues that I would have to get use to.
Also I was terribly unimpressed with the acceleration of the 110 c.i. Road King...again maybe I am just spoiled with my convertible.

Interesting take on the CVO King.  I have not found many touring bikes that will run with it except other CVO's.  Then like you, I felt I need more, so the motor in my King is built.

I have yet to find any softtail model that can hang with a touring bike in the curves.  Floor boards drag on them long before they do on a touring bike.  I know in our garage is a heritage, a fatboy, a street glide, a CVO road glide, and a CVO road king.

Main reason my wife went to a street glide was so she could keep up in the curves.

Hi Dave,
You are absolutely correct about the rubbing floorboards, especially on my cvo convertible...I probably have my floorboard brackets ground down pretty good by now. But I was speaking of just straight forward power and quickness...probably due to the lesser weight of the convertible compared to the road king. Also the balanced 110 c.u. Is very relaxing when sitting at a traffic light.

Thanks guys.  Two belong to my wive, the Street Glide and the Heritage.  She loves riding and averages 34,000 miles a year.  So she does not say a word about me and my bikes.   :cool blue:  She knows I am will be looking hard at the 15 CVO RG Ultra, I plan to trade my 12 CVO RG, she thinks I should keep it as she knows its my favorite of all the road glides.

09 Heritage 96,000 miles
13 Street Glide 37,000 miles, traded an 11 street glide for it she put 39,000 miles on.

My 12 CVO RG has just over 45K, the 13 Has 14K.

I do agree about the Balanced motors.  Took me a long time to get use to the vibration at a light on my first touring bike in 09.  I am sure the lighter convertible 110 would be a little quicker than the 110 King, as its about 80 pounds less.

Unless I am traveling I normally ride without the passenger seat/sissy bar and without the saddle bags. Which will jump that eighty lbs. up above 100 lbs., about the weight of a small passenger.

As long as you ONLY drag the floorboards and not the supports.

I'm with this dude. My CVO King has plenty of balls and it's stock (for now). The Heritage I traded for it couldn't keep up in the straights or the curves.

Hey Puma,
You are absolutely correct about the curves. In fact it is downright dangerous being aggressive on curves riding a cvo convertible. But on the straight away I am sure I can at least keep up with and even surpass a cvo road king or two on my convertible having riden  with a friend who owns one.  As far as balls go you need to do the cvo breakout which I do believe is also a softtail. Then you may have a different take as far as the meaning of balls.
What I do not care for are the ergonomics of the road king.  As with all touring models you tend to sit on top of them as opposed to the softtails where you are sitting more inside of it...between the rear wheel and the engine.  That may have something to do with me being height-challenged...I am only 5'-10" tall.  That may also be why most woman riders usually perfer softtails as opposed to the touring models.
Like they say, to each their own...
Stay Safe!!!
