Removable Tour Pack
« on: August 21, 2014, 04:20:16 PM »

Just completed the transformation of my 2014 Limited CVO. HD really made this a simple easy. Now I have the best of both worlds.

Looks really nice,, can I suggest a lay down license plate bracket in place of that stock one?   Great job :2vrolijk_21:

Good look, you're going to enjoy the ride even more being stripped down a bit.  :bananarock:

How so?  What's different with the 14's, making it easier?

Thanks!

My 09 had a lot going on back there when I did mine.

I thought about doing it with my 09 and 12 but didn't like all the wires and changes I had to make. Never tried it so maybe it wouldn't have been as bad as it sounded. On this bike, 2014, four bolts, and all the wires are quick disconnects located between the seat and tour pack, and the tour pack is off. No trim to take off or redo to put the quick connects on the rails for the tour pack. Putting the license plate bracket on was probably the most labor intense. Will check out the lay down bracket, appreciate that suggestion. My dealer thru the street glide seat in on the deal so it will work for now. Don't want to do everything at once, making changes are part of the journey.

Looks good. A friend of mine has a 14 LTD and just for the heck of it he took his tourpak off in a 45 minutes. I can remove my tourpak in about 10 minutes with switching out the seat, etc. My amp is now in my right saddle bag and buddy that thing gets warm. Ride safe

Check a different thread on this site... A fellow member made his TP removable and rather than putting the amp in the saddlebag he made a bracket for the amp to nicely fit tucked in behind the left filler strip between the saddlebag and fender.  Apparently it works great there, with no problems with heat.

Just thought I would mention it and hopefully (if you're interested) you will be able to locate his posting of pictures and explanation on how he did the work... Pretty neat idea.
