I put the WildOne's 612 Chubby's.  Perfect, and used stock cables

How tall are the bars you don't like?  Asking because I didn't care for the stock bars much at all.  Also don't like the look of obvious apes on a fairinged bike.  I went with a 10" "mini ape" then even pulled them back a bit.  No "ape" look and (at least to me) a really good fit and feel.

Im late coming to this thread but I have a set of Stock bars off my 2000 SERG if anyone needs them.

10" minis...they have way to much pull back and down for me.  I come from a moto x background and like my bars straight.  On every bike,  I replace the stockers to get less pull back.

Got the stockers back on,  Oh what a difference...I love them.  I hated my ape hangers.  going out now for a shakedown run.
