Oil
« on: August 29, 2014, 05:46:42 PM »

Had my 1000 mile service and now just done over 3000 miles and I have had to put nearly a litre of oil in!

Does this seem to be correct ? Anyone else had to put oil in so quickly after a service ?

One good thing is that the oil warning light does work !

Did you check the oil level right after the service was performed?  In other words, are you sure the dealer actually put the correct amount back in?  If you have someone else do your oil changes, it would be a very good idea to get into the habit of checking the fluid levels immediately afterward.  All too many places over here either underfill or overfill.

If you actually used a full liter in only 2000 miles, that seems rather excessive.  I'd suggest doing a controlled consumption test so you will know for sure exactly how much oil you're consuming.

My local,Dealer did the service and I didn't check oil levels!

Will be checking now as you can't trust them to do it correctly !

I just hope it's ok as I have never had this issue with any bike before.

Checked oil last night and all is week, looks like not enough put in after first service,so beware when having services done at dealers ,you still have to check things!

Soon to have its 5000 mile service.
