Wife & I are thinking about taking a long trip. Does anyone have a bag that mounts on the top of the tour pack? What would you recommend?

T BAGS, DEKKER SUPREME model is the best. You can't beat their products. They warranty their products for lifetime to the original purchaser with original receipt, for any kind of workmanship etc. My bag came apart at the bottom seam & they replaced it free of charge. The bag was already 3 years old!

Some of the bags available for the TP racks are HUGE and it would be very easy to put too much weight in the bag. While most everyone puts more than the recommended 10lbs on the rack, I'd pay attention to how much was on there for two reasons: one, the rack is basically supported by the lid of the TP in 4 concentrated points, and two, the lower you keep the weight on the bike, the better off you are with regards to handling and balance. If you go with a big azzed bag, just pay attention to how much heavy stuff you put in it...I'd venture to say that a couple of those bags by themselves weigh close to 10lbs...with nothing in them.

One advantage to the Road Ready bags is that they are extremely light, and totally waterproof without the need for a rain cover. is a nice size, fits perfectly on the rack, has a rigid pan in the bottom, and is not so big that it would be easy to put excessive weight in it. I have it, and it's nice for putting things you need easy access to while on the road. Kind of pricey, but is well constructed and looks really nice on the rack too. I keep the rain suits in it, gum, my wife's small travel purse, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc.

T BAGS, DEKKER SUPREME are the best. My wife loves it. It detaches from the luggage rack and you carry it into the hotel. Plenty of room. Just don't pack heavy stuff in it. You don't want the center of gravity raised on the bike. You'd be happy with it.

After reading numerous threads on this subject myself, I went with the T-bags Bootcase model as it will fit on top of the luggage rack and inside your king TP......paid $153 for mine shipped to IL..

T-bags Dekker Supreme. Has inner pads I pull out for longer trips with wife. Snugs down nicely on TP rack with bag attached straps. Good rain cover pulls out of hidden pocket when needed (tested thru many storms and snow-very effective). Several outside zipper pockets to hold miscellany. We did wonderful trip to tetons and this bag gave us just enough extra storage to keep wife happy (she gets the TP and one saddlebag which is a lot). I like to slip my 6' cable lock thru the handles, over the top down thru rack for a little security at rest stops. I keep tools and valuables and heavy stuff low in locked saddle bags. Put anything you need for the day in the t-bag or saddle bag because you don't want to keep unshackling the t-bag to get into TP.

This is what I use, and really like it. It is a T bags space saver, comes with rain cover. Velcro's on. 90 dollars

When I start on a trip it's empty, takes little space. Then after a week at sturgis and another at yellowstone and such, it is pretty much full of souvenirs, tee shirts and such.

I did a lot of research and bought the RoadReady XL. The service is great! They give a discount for CVOHarley members. I think it was about $140 shipped. It is large enough to hold a full face helmet and all my heated gear. Just took it on it's maiden voyage of 10K miles and it performed flawlessly.

Ok - if you are going for style, all those bags are extremely nice. I used to just travel with a bag in the passenger seat, then one trip I needed some extra stuff and had to improvise. I took a Waterproof bag (from Dicks' Sporting goods) that was the same length as the tourpak, through an olde Army Laundry Bag that I still had in it and filled it up with all my stuff. The round shape of the Waterproof bag makes it look like a roll bag.

I've had the Deker Supreme, Kuryakn Gran Tourer and several others mentioned. They all have nice features.....one even had a handle and wheels.

But riding long distances I quickly learned a couple of things......I pack so much of the creature comforts that I need the lightest bag possible. I also sometimes buy odd shaped things and the luggage that has a shape or form type frame just makes anything other than clothes hard to pack.

I just keep going back to the first tour pack bag model that I first bought maybe fifteen years ago. This is my second one of that model. It is water resistant (I think one corner my clothes got damp in a really driving rain that I got stuck in for hours) and the great thing is that the bottom has a zipper that goes all the way around and it actually expands another 3" taller than what you see in this pic.

An added safety feature......it has a large reflective strip that goes all the way across the back so you can't be missed at night. It has four very large (wide) velcro straps plus an adjustable strap that I loop through the tour pack rack before fastening, just as an added safety feature.

That's the same bag I have and in all the years I've had it I have not found one that suits me better. I got it in 1997 and in the time I have had that one rack bag, I have had three Ultras.

It's the Harley Davidson Expandable Tour Pack Luggage Rack Bag #91753-92. Good luck in finding one, they're obsolete.....you'll have to have your dealership do a dealership search to find one in your area.

They're a lot cheaper than the HD was selling them for. I think I paid $125 for mine and I had to drive to a dealership 80 miles away (past three other dealerships) to the only one that had one left.

My first one lasted for years and years and they're pretty rugged, take lots of abuse, bad weather, etc. Having had just about all the other fancy tour pack top bags, this is the one I'd get if I had it to do over again.

You'll notice in my most recent ride report (Gold Point), it's the one I have on my bike.

Hey cool, thanks JC. So if I read right, it has a wide velco strap at each corner to fasten? Any problems with rubbing on the paint etc? I like the fact that it expands. I actually borrowed one like it (maybe the same) and as the trip went on I was able to open it up for more room. The problem with that one was I ended up with rub marks (can't remember from what).

No rub marks from mine and that's after years of use on two different bikes. Be sure the shoulder strap is secured across the top and under the velcro flap. That's the only thing that I can think of that might be loose enough to rub. The velcro corner straps are very wide and plenty long enough to secure it tightly no matter what the load.

I try to put all the heavy stuff (blow dryer, curling iron, etc.) down in the saddle bags and just put clothes in the top bag.

Note....the white stripe across the back is 3M reflectorized so it's a huge safety feature when you have to stop on the side of the road after dark. Even when your tour pack is open (it's up and down then), it lights up pretty well.

Will this HD Bag PN :93300006 fit the air wing rack on a 2009 FLHTCUSE4. Seems all the videos and pictures that I have seen show them on an older style rack. Haven't seen anything that shows them on a later model Harley with the air wing rack.

Went to Whistle Works, bought the medium sized "duffel" bag, $9.99, extremely high quality. Holds a lot. I just hate giving the MOCO or any other company, hundreds of dollars for a bag/case that costs the supplier $20 from China.

x 2- that's what I'm looking at getting once I get my TP rack. I like the fact it's super light, and collapsible so that you can fit it easily in a saddlebag when your not using it.

I actually thought I was going to go with the T Bags Accordian (same as the Space Saver, but smaller), which fits the HD contoured TP rack, but I ordered one, and it is much smaller than I thought.

So, I realized if I want a bigger bag, I'll need to get the HD Airwing rack instead. I'm only going to use it for long trips, so I figure I can unscrew and remove the rack when not in use.

Mark...on my '06, I found the Road Ready Medium rack bag to be a nice fit for the smaller rack, and it's a totally waterproof bag without the need for a raincover.

It'll hold as much stuff as you need to be putting up there...I used to fill it with things I wanted immediate access to (mostly the BSR's stuff), and then strap an OR (Outdoor Research) stuff sack on top with our rainsuits. The outside pockets are handy on it as well.

I ride a 07 and have found that the Kuryakyn roll bag model 4142 works great. It is large enough to put my leathers in but normally it is used by my wife for her travel gear saving the main tour pack for the heavier items we carry. It actually fits on the rack and is easily attached with the Velcro strips provided. It also comes with a rain cover and a cable lock.

That's a good choice as well...I've used both on the '06 I used to have. Both have advantages and disadvantage, but neither's disadvantages make much difference. The upside to the Road Ready is that it is truly waterproof without a cover. The downside is that it is not a hard shelled bag, but rather has stiff foam sides, bottom, and top to help keep it's shape when not full. Either one is a good choice...

Looking for this same tour pack top bag again. It was Harley Davidson Part # 91753-92. I would definately consider a used one, provided it's not damaged.

This is the one I use, fits the luggage rack like a glove. Believe they were made for Gold wings originally. Picked it up new years ago from a guy for $40.00, liked it because it fit so well.
