CVO production Process
« on: October 03, 2015, 07:22:51 PM »

Cleaning my bike today i noticed under the rear fender, at the very bottom underside of the fender, was a white sticker with the name Richie S in red.  Not knowing anything about the CVO production process, i was thinking it may be the name of a HD employee who had something to do with the final assembly of my bike.

Anyone familiar with this?

Maybe it was built for Richie S and he backed out of the deal 😳

they are on many pieces of my bike too. The fenders, inside the fairing, side covers, tour pack, and saddlebags. Must be someone who made, inspected, or installed the parts.

Though any vehicle production line there are multiple people who perform QC checks and will sign or initial in a pre determined spot. Certainly not commenting on their ability or effort they put into that job but explaining why i think the names are there.

Take off your side covers, you'll see a couple of stickers.  Mine said land shark, the date it was painted and who painted it.

Odds are pretty good that those names and initials are from the folks at the company that actually does the CVO paint.  Since the CVO's are actually built on the regular assembly line these days, as opposed to the old method, the people assembling a CVO are the same people who install the parts on the standard models.  I doubt H-D gives their assembly line workers enough time to personally sign every part they install.

My 2011 has same.  That's part of the QC of the paint process.

All CVO's are build by only ONE technician. They are not build on the line! Of course they are constantly inspected by QA/QC and these are the stickers you see. I have many friends that are working for HD and they have confirmed it.

Interesting first post.  Welcome!  Feel free to introduce yourself in the new members section.  Hate to start you out by disagreeing but your statement was last correct in 2009. Since 2010, all CVO's have been produced on the general assembly line.  If you look at the various stickers on your bike, you will see different names for different processes.

... and if you ever had the chance to take the special CVO tour back then, you would have seen that it was a small team, not one technician building the bikes.

Sure is.

I have many friends that are working for HD and they have confirmed it.
Was this prior to 2010 that they confirmed it.

Watch this HD video, at 1;42 minutes you will see a CVO come down the line

Not sure where your friends work but its obviously no where near the assembly line, they have been put together just like any other bike for seven years now
