CVO Supplements to Service Manuals
« on: November 28, 2015, 08:21:03 PM »

I did a quick search of archive but didn't see anything that addressed my question after a QUICK scan of the hits.

Generally, is the CVO supplement worth the expense - I assume it covers the items/features peculiar to the CVO models... I think the Touring service manual covers all the various FLH/FLX/FLT bikes, in my particular case a 2015 FLTRUSE, for all the major assemblies/subassemblies.

I'm about to place an order for some parts and want to get the manuals due to the free shipping.

Thanks,

Joe B.

I always buy the CVO service supplement because like you said it covers the additional items included with the CVO models that are not included on the standard models.  And for the parts manual (at least until the 2012MY which is the latest I have) the CVO parts manual was not just a supplement.  It included all the standard parts and the CVO parts.

I ordered the supplemental book as well. I just felt that if I needed the information I didn't want to have to go looking then.  I don't recall what I was looking for but I did find what I needed in the supplemental book at least once already.

I too have all the manuals (Touring Service Manual, CVO Supplement, Parts Manual, & Electrical Diagnostic Manaul).. they are a good investment and worth having whether you do a lot of work yourself on your bike or just use them as reference.

I also bought all the manuals, and I refer to them often. Sometimes just to get part numbers before heading to the dealer. They came in real handy when I was doing some electrical mods.

Good idea to have the reference materials available nearby. Also makes it easier when doing your own service.

Good to have them around, especially if you're working on the bike yourself. I always do.

Having all three manuals on hand is a good idea IMHO even if you never plan to turn a wrench.  There is a lot of information in them that you won't find in an owner's manual, or from the typical employee of a Harley dealership.  Compared to the manuals for most other vehicles these days, the ones from Harley are actually reasonably priced.  Order them from a discount dealership and you can buy all three for around $180 including shipping.  If you doubt that's a good price, try buying a manual for your car or truck.
