fxr-sp
« on: November 28, 2009, 12:18:05 PM »

I'm selling my dyna and looking for a 92 or 93 fxrs-sp. Is there any differences in the frame geometry on the SP compared to the CONV? Did they both come with air assisted suspension on the front? I have found a CONV. I may be interested in if the frames, forks are the same as the SP.
thanks, Dennis

The FXR frames are the same. Many other components changed over the years to make the different FXR models. But the basic frame spec is the same. The 2 bikes you refer to have taller suspensions, and are better handling bikes, than say a Low Rider or even the CVO's! With the right components, any FXR can be made into any other FXR. ;)

BTW, welcome aboard Dennis. I hope you'll find interest in our FXR GTG when you get yours together. See the link in my sig! :2vrolijk_21:

The SP was a great bike , my brother had one for 20 years .  I had an FXDX for a few years which was the closest Dyna equivalent.
I'd got it because I liked his SP so much.
Good luck in the search.

Chad,

Im in Texas, the one I went to look at friday was in California. I regret the money I lost going out there but was glad I didnt buy just from the pics over the internet. Im still kicking myself for not making a deal for the one you had for sale.

As far as I can determine the FXR-SP, Convertible, and FXRP were the same, regarding frame and suspension.

The Convertible had soft removable saddlebags and the rear turn signals moved off the fender struts to the sides of the license plate.  It also had, I believe, buckhorn handlebars as opposed to the drag bars on the FXR-SP.  The police bike had the lifted suspension, and was different in the police specific areas such as seats, bags, handlebars, and fairing.  Basically, not a lot of difference and if you want the raised bike, you can always buy longer fork tubes, front springs and rear shocks, and do it yourself.

i have scored 2 fxrs sp's in the last 3 months and i must say i have been looking for a couple of years and these are the cleanest. my convertible is also amazing.
i love them both they ride the same but the sp is magic.
here is a photo of 1 of my sp's

I watched that one being passed around on ebay the last couple of months. talked to the owners both times, never could make a deal. Once it was in AZ. then for sale in CA. I got a little nervous so I bought this for 7K. All original

Man those SP are sweet....... what year and miles on the black one fxdl? I have been looking for one for a while to, just not many nice ones around it seems. Found a 1992 with 16k on it all stock.....$8900.00 just to much money so I will sit till something come up thats reasonable.......in a depressed market.

As the clean, low-mileage desireable ones become more & more rare, the prices will surely rise & rise, even in this depressed mkt.   spyder
