My "new" EVO
« on: November 14, 2007, 09:12:34 PM »

Thought I'd post a picture of my "new" Harley.....engine is a 2003 EVO with Andrews Cams, L.A.F. pipes (and they are) and rigid rear end. I didn't construct it, but got it on Ebay. Picked it up in Austin last Friday..........really a fun ride, but not BSR friendly....that's OK....I don't mind riding alone sometimes.  Really has a lot of torque and get up and go (although it's more like hang on for dear life).

Anyway, really pleased with the new toy.............

Cool Bobber Geezer! Enjoy it man! I'm building a rigid 80" Evo (chopper) too, with all the take-off parts from my '85 FXWG, after I rebuild that bike with the new 110" Evo & 6-speed I'm converting it to this winter. Lots of luck with yours! :2vrolijk_21:

Thought I'd post a minor correction........my 29 yrear old son (he's a Harley mechanic at a dealer in GA) was visiting and riding/looking over my new bike. He told me that it could NOT be a 2003 since the last Evo was built in 1999-2000. Sure enough when I looked up the engine serial number, I found that the engine came from a 1999 FXSTS....

Regardless, I'm still delighted with the bike and we put quite a few miles on it this week, since the weather here in North Texas has been incredible.  Only issue with the bike is that with the current location of the petcock, I'm getting a MAXIMUM of 65 miles from a tank of gas. I'll relocate the petcock and see if I can increase the range a little.

Just wanted to be accurate.........

Thanks for the correction.  I know it's a 'blast' to ride that chopped hardtail......I just can't handle it anymore.  That doesn't mean I don't miss it.  har!  :drink: spyder

That's what I was wondering Dennis!
Evo from the MoCo is fine as long as it's not 110.

 :2vrolijk_21:

BTW
Those Evo's sure did respond well to a S&S, EV-27 and some pipes!  :coolblue:

Not sure what you'd call it, but it would be the 'latest' EVO with all of the 'up-dates', not sure what year the last one was implemented, but that's probably 'technically' the last year of the EVO, if there is a 'last year'.  This has got to be a question for one of the V-twin type magazine editors.  ??? They love these little ditties.  :-*  har!  :drink: spyder

Heres my new evo I got last fall. After riding my bagger for 4 years it's kind of a kick to beat around on this. It's a 1984, first year softail and first year evo.

I bet it is fun.  What's that on some of the front of the bike (lower legs, headlight rim, triple tree, etc).......gold plating?   :nixweiss: spyder

it coulda been an 2003 EVO, you can still buy the EVO engine from HD in a crate, the black and chrome 80" EVO engine runs about 4,300 clams
