My friend bought a 2012 this weekend. I mentioned how much I wanted the illuminated logo and explained you couldn't buy it unless you have a 2012. He said he would buy me one if I wanted it. Can he do that or does he have to turn his current lamp in to buy a new one?

He could give you his old one, claim his was stolen by some crazy non CVO road glider
that he saw riding off into the sunset waiving his dash and yelling Hi-Ho Silver Away!

and therefore he needs a new one and there's none to swap...

Yes he can and no he does not have to turn in the old one if he is buying it out right.

then... they ah could just kneel down and snap an eye phone picture

for that vin.

Dealer has to return parts to HD when they install replacement parts. I know I went through it with my 2011 console.

I think that is only for warranty parts

The light and screws have come in. Just waiting for the insert now. Did not have a date but they said soon. I told them i will pick it all up together when the insert comes in since my order has gone threw.

No distrespect.. but I hope your work does not pay off ....I have been working in my shop for over a month and am close to an aftermarket fix.  My luck HD will offer it in a Fall ..Xmas accessory book

Went to the dealership to talk about my amp situation and went by the parts counter to pick up what has come in. The light and screws. The insert should be here in a week or so. . Once i heard that i paid for the whole bill.

The break down was. $282.97 CAN. I hated paying for it especially since the 2011's where suppose to come with this mod but i think it is a must mod for me. Once i see it light up i will be fine....lol.

I have read about everyone wanting to light up their CVO emblem and I thought, "really that seems like such a non-issue" but that was before I saw mine lit up at night for the first time.  It is so freak'in awesome!  Good luck with your mod's guys, cause it is well worth your efforts.

Just got a shipping confirmation for my insert, it has been on backorder for a while now...but will be here on Wednesday.
I ordered a chrome dash to mount it in, thought I would change up the tank on my '11, but now I'm thinking I will need to change my gas gauge & cap to match the dash I ordered if I go that route. I may not get anything mounted until winter now, but I thought I would let anyone knows that is following this thread that it can be done. I've got an '11 and was able to purchase the insert for the '12, but I did have to provide a VIN # from a 2012, but that's not too hard...
