I priced out a new CVO @ there old Dealership on Front Street in 07. They were $2,000 more than anyone. They have , or had, the Rossmeyer mentality.

No, if they had the Rossmeyer mentality it would be $6,000.00 over MSRP..  They sell at msrp now supposedly. Their hurting like most are.. Dealers like that deserve to close...

Hey Mano,
I'm certain everything will work out for you and your bike will be as good as new when you have it back... The people who have their bikes in storage with them had better get in touch with them because I can't see them lasting until April 9th.  :nixweiss:

BTW, which dealerships were the two guys you saw out of?  Were they buying bikes or just parts and accessories?  I'd be surprised if a dealer didn't buy a bunch of bikes.

You maybe counting the days, but again I'm sure you'll get your bike back on time.

Take care,
Grizzly

I too am sure my bike will be fine. I have a real good relationship with the mechanic and he gave me his word. I trust him and plan to follow him where ever he goes.

The 2 guys were from Davis and Jacox. They bought everything. Most of the good stuff was piled up behind the counters and in the offices. As for the bikes I heard today that there were all bought up in 20 min by a biker club. Who knows. All I know is that the sale was planed to start on the 14th and it started on the 13th. That means friends of friends and all those in the "loop" where there to buy all the good stuff.

I plan to be riding my bike home on Friday or Saturday. I plan to go by after work tomorrow just to see whats going on and if there is any good stuff left.

I just heard the same thing this morning... I was also told that the 50% off was on bikes as well.  Even though they didn't have any 2012's to sell, apparently their "new" 09's, 10's & 11's all sold yesterday with the deep discounts offered.

Any truth to that statement Mano?

Went back today. All current year bikes were sold at just below list. All others new and used where 50% off.

The place is almost empty now.

Here's the dealer numbers from H-D, printed in the investors relationship info and available off their website.

Seems that with all the change things stay fairly level in the number of dealerships, down 33 from the 2008 high of 686.  The Secondary retail are also down 28 from a high of 104 in 2007 which certainly adds to the total number of stores closed but still not extremely dramatic in my mind, these are not the mall locations but satellite retail units.

Mall stores "alternative" retail outlets in H-D lingo are actually up to 86 from 2007 low number of 68 which offsets some of the secondary retail store loss as mall stores are owned by dealers as well.

Thanks for that info, and especially for the link to the investor site.  When they update that to include 2011 results, we'll be able to see how this year has been for HD overall.
The numbers have been released for 2011, not so good:

Just got a letter from Deeley Canada,  Toronto HD will be shutting down effective April 9th... they were one of the biggest dealers in our area.

By 'biggest" I'm certain you are referring to square footage... They never really could compete with the other dealers in the area, which is just one reason why they are gone.  Apparently there hasn't been much there for weeks now, no Internet and I'm not sure if they are even answering the phone, so it will be something if they hang on till April 9th???

It is very unfortunate that Canada's largest city now has no Harley dealer within their boundaries.

Yep... always heard that it was size that mattered!

Not sure what the real scoop is on the closure yet, but you're right... a buddy was there last week and said that the walls were bare.

Timing is interesting as well, they just moved into the new building a few short years ago.

When visiting the Toronto dealership a couple years ago, I was disappointed in the store...  I was expecting a more comprehensive place...  What are the dominant dealerships in the Toronto area?   :nixweiss:

18 million is what that place cost but the truth is that they were not selling enough bikes. Come to think of it there service was not that great ether. What they could not fix on my bike in over 8 months another dealer did it in 7 days.....that included waiting for parts.

I was told that the Lamborghini dealership next door will stay open. It is owned by the same guy.

As for the city of Toronto not having a Harley dealership that is to be seen. I belong to the Toronto H.O.G. Chapter and at our last meeting we were asked to sit tight and keep the group together. We are thinking that another Harley dealer will be opening up but this cannot be confirmed.....time will tell....as they say "it will all come out in the wash".

How long ago was your visit? If it was the one on Front Street yes that was small but if it was the on on Lawrence Ave that place was huge. It even had the one of the biggest B&S signs in North America.

We still have Mackie in the east, Davies in the north and Jacox in the west.

If I recall correctly the new place opened up in early 2009.
