H.O.G. Cairo Chapter take to the streets during Egypt crisis

article in the European HOG-Magazine:

"H.O.G. Cairo Chapter take to the streets during Egypt crisisPrint Preview
On November 25th, 2011, Egypt witnessed immense protests that led to the removal of the police force from the streets of Egypt. Before long, news broke out that over a thousand dangerous criminals escaped the prisons and were causing harm and destroying properties nearby.

Local citizens decided to establish civilian security by guarding their own homes and families.

In Zamalek, an island less than one kilometre away from the massive protests, some of the Harley-Davidson owners decided to team up and patrol the Island until the early hours of the morning. They wore their mean leather Jackets and communicated with each other and key checkpoints through walkie talkies.

Very soon the H.O.G.’s were greeted with a warm smile by most of the neighbours as they cruised by the neighbourhood’s pedestrian road blocks. Neighbours anxiously waited to hear from the riders the latest security situation. Most were comforted to hear the roar of the mufflers through-out the early hours of the morning.

Those riders displayed courage and embraced responsibility by working through the night in a hostile environment patrolling the dark streets from potential hazards. They truly enhanced the image of the H.O.G. Cairo Chapter and will always be remembered by local residents as the brave men that looked beyond fear in order to make sure that all is under control and the local residents are safe.

Unfortunately, the H.O.G. Egypt Rally has had to be cancelled but we have received a note from the H.O.G. Cairo Chapter Director with details of a new event, ‘Rising Egypt’ happening very soon.

Dear Friends,

Over the years, Egypt has been through so many good and bad times and its stories are engraved in all history books. Yet always, has evolved to be a better & safer country strong with its people and hospitality.

Sadly due to the current circumstances in Egypt our 2nd H.O.G. Egypt Rally in Sharm EL Sheik, which was scheduled in March 2011, will not take place this year.

We would like to thank everyone that already registered for the Rally and those who were planning to join us.

We are sure 2012 will be a bigger and better event for all of us. Egypt will welcome you all in 2012 with its well-known smile & hospitality.

We wish you all a year full of wonderful rides and memorable events.

With regards to our promise for a better Egypt, we will be hosting an event very soon in the name of "Rising Egypt" and would be delighted to have all our friends join us...for more details on that, keep in touch with our two groups on facebook Cairo HOG Chapter & Harley-Davidson Egypt or e-mail us at admin@hog-egypt.com or info-hdegypt@smg.com.eg

Ride and the road will lead you.
