MVA HEAD,259 CAMS,10.5.1 PISTONS
« on: September 24, 2013, 11:07:30 AM »

I have a 2012 CVOSG, Motor is stock, Head Pipe is a V&H true dual, RC 4" Mufflers, RC Accelerator Tuner. I am ready for more HP and Sound. Dealer suggesting 259 cams,10.5.1 pistons, MVA Heads. Anyone have this combination? If so what how does the bike perform and what are the HP & Torque no.s. If some has a better solution I am willing to listen.

That kit is more mid range and top end power. Most " I say this as I have seen one build that did way better"  so again most builds will build in the mid 100 hp range and mid teens for tq. Without any extra work. I would suggest you look at a few of the other threads going right now on cams and builds  . Several dyno sheets have been posted and you can see where they fall into. The 259 can be made to work but from the tunes I ahve done as straight dealer kits they have not be overly impressive.

Both of these were the same but with modified 110 heads.

Don is that with oe pistons? If so did you use a thinner head gasket or shave the cylinder head?

Both those bikes, ones mine, and one is a friends are as follows
10.5 SE pistons
5.3 HD injectors
55 mm HPI throttle bodies, with 58 mm intake
Woods directional lifters
110 heads ported by Don , set to give 10.8 compression.

Difference, the bike with the higher torque is a Fuelmoto head pipe and 4 inch Rinheart mufflers

My bike is the Fullsac D version head pipe and CVO mufflers with fullsac 2.25 SD cores.  I found after the dyno tune that all the packing had blown to the end of the mufflers.  And according to Steve at Fullsac that has shown to drop a couple foot pounds of torque.  I have fixed the packing with the new screens but not had a chance to check it on the dyno.

We have run the bikes against each other and they are very close each and every time, more about who gets the jump.

Would suggest against what the dealer is offering.

The heads on the bike right now are a good starting point.

I just did the kit the OP is looking at trying. 10.5 pistons, mva heads 259E's etc.
Ended up having real similar #'s to what's been posted. 118/125 with V&H x pipe and HO slips.
Only real complaint I have is the price of the MVA heads, pretty spendy. I went that route because
I wanted to have the stock parts to put back on and take the good stuff with me when I sell/trade in..
