Which is faster zero-to-sixty, V-Rod or CVO Breakout? Both with stock engines.

Really, have you ever rode a V Rod? I have had 2 of them and currently have a 14 cvo breakout, V Rod hands down, you'll still be in first gear!

I've never had a stock bike...  8)  But my Breakout will flog most V-rods!

The V-Rod riders must not Be experienced in how to race them.....

A V-Rod experienced street racer would smoke a Breakout EVERY time....sorry.

Not Brett's bike they wouldn't. But my question was regarding stock engines at 0-60 only. Brett's is far from stock.

Four of my mates ( sorry "riding Buddies" ) here in Perth Western Australia have 2002 and 2003 V-Rods , the original Anodised finish bikes

All are "Stage 1" tuned by original SERT , all have HD "Screamin' eagle" slip on mufflers , decatted third volume and K&N air filter and airbox modifications.

These guys are 63 , 2x 67 , and 74 years old !

Two of the guys are Vietnam Vets , (so they're 67, not young !!) , quite different to the other demographic that are V-Rod riders in Australia.

These 2 vets ride quite hard. Their bikes are probably faster than both my 2008 CVO Springer AND my 2013 CVO Breakout with "1800 Pro-upgrade kit"

BUT there's not a lot in it , and both mine may actually be quicker "out the hole" if that makes sense , especially if I get the jump on them !

That's a "Torque" thing I'm presuming

That's what I'm getting at: "out of the hole". The CVO Breakout should do 0-60 in less than 4 seconds. So I'm curious which would win.

If you look at the HD website a Muscle is 307kg produces 115Nm and the CVO Breakout 330kg & 151Nm so you would think it would be in the Breakouts favour.  But stock RWHP the Muscle is around 110rwhp and the CVO Breakout 80rwhp. At the drag strip the Muscle will run high 11's for the 1/4 mile and the Breakout high 12's. But at the traffic light drags with your mate on his V-rod and you get the jump you should hold him off for a few gears.

I have ridden both bikes stock. The CVO Breakout is lazy and doesn't like to rev when compared to a V-rod.

Yes Bretto , the pushrod air cooled can never REV like a V-Rod

That "1800 pro upgrade kit" in my CVO breakout has shifted the power and torque to the right on a graph curve

So it "revs" for a 110 cube big twin ( all these terms are relative of course !)

I think the 2002/2003 V-Rods are probably still quicker , but I make them work for it haha...

From a recent June 2014 on the newer 1250cc bike.
9 top 0-60 street cruisers
http://www.cheatsheet.com/automobiles/9-fastest-cruiser-motorcycles-from-0-60.html/?a=viewall

#5. Harley-Davidson V-Rod: 3.59 seconds
A previous model of the Harley-Davidson VRSC V-Rod was clocked by Motorcycle News going 0-60 in 3.59 seconds. The latest model has upgraded its torque from 72 pound-feet to 83 pound-feet, while the weight has jumped from 619 pounds to a menacing 666 pounds at the curb.

Mine dynoed with just slip ons. at 118hp and 82ftlbs if I recall correctly.
launching is the hardest part on the V. too much rpm and she will pick the nose up or spin, too little and she will bog, it just doesnt have the torque to carry a low rpm launch. These motors love RPM's. Most racers i have heard launch between 5 & 7k rpm.  But when the stars aline, She is a rocket.  :huepfenjump3:. Factor in 1st will run you up ~70mph if i remember right bepending on the year bike which will determine the front trans tooth count 30 or 28 for the 1250cc bikes its the 28 tooth, the 1130 bikes and euro's its the 30 tooth. but there are a few companies makeing a 26tooth. been told its a beast out the hole compaired to stock.

The "1800 Pro-upgrade " kit is 10.5:1 compression pistons , 259e cams , all necessary gaskets etc , and a Screamin' Eagle Pro race tuner.

Comes as a "boxed set" ready for dealer installation

I have both and there is no comparison.....period.  The Rod will haul to 60 in a huge hurry if launched properly.  The CVO BO is a fantastic cruiser and I would never part with it....but the V-Rod is a different animal.  In the power cruiser world, there are one or two out there that will beat a V-Rod, but the CVO BO is not one of them, by any measure, in my experience: initial launch, top end speed, cornering speed, highway passing speed, etc.  If for no other reason, the shift points.  With a 9k red line, and pulling all the way to it on the V-Rod, you are going to be into two shifts on the CVO easily before the clutch pulls on the Rod.

So let me understand this.  You want to compare stock rod to a hopped up BO?  And special driver? anything else?  Why can't the Rod be hopped up and special driver?  Add all you want, at the line you will never know what is in the other bike or how under/over qualified the other driver is....

Race him and learn that that race is only good for bragging rights until the next bike beats you.....

Sorry, Had a Street Rod and that thing was crazy from the line and sucked in the long end.  Every bike has it's short comings.
