My CVO set up for two up riding
« on: October 30, 2013, 12:57:20 PM »

Just picked up my new bike after selling my 2011 Streetglide cvo. This bike is a hoot to ride and looking forward to next summer with it.

What tuner did you go with your V&H exhaust??  I'm guessing Power Commander?
I went to HD to see if they had a map for my wife's bike to match with the Rush slip ons and they said HD has no maps at all for the Softail Deluxe…. Hmmm  They were able to put a "stage II" map into my RGC.

Dealer is putting in a race tuner Tuesday.I will post after it is in. Harley should have a download for it it is the same 110 as in all the others. My dealer is going to use the Harley race turner,I will have it installed tomorrow.

HD Race tuner installed, shop had to call Harley they have a new program for the Deluxe. Took awhile to down load but it works fine. If your shop does not have download tell them to call Harley tect and get it.They told me to run it and put a 1000 miles on it and then they will fine tune it on dyno. The bike is more responsive and very smooth with more power.     .I never had a tuner on my 2011 streetglide cvo and had headers and reinhart mufflers and I can tell the Deluxe runs much smoother.

Hi Older Guy,
That sounds Great!  Do you know if they were calling the Map from HD the Stage II Map?  I'm debating on gong with a one time download (no tuner required) for HD, the Race Tuner, or the TTS tuner.  All have the pros/cons.  The reason I ask if it was the stage II download was I just had that put on my '13 RGC and its terrible, running way too lean.  Tons of power, but to much "popping".  I think I'm going to go with the Tuner for both the Deluxe and my Road Glide.  Its way more money than a TTS Tuner, but it puts (keeps) the responsibility of the bike in HD's court.. Still unsure, but we'll see.
Glad you got your bike up and running the way CVO's are meant to run.  Tons more power??  Any Cooler??  I'm also getting ready to put an oil cooler on the Deluxe.  Not sure why they didn't come with one already.

Had an oil cooler on my  2011 street glide, save your money.I don't know the name of the tuner program but I do know it was made for the deluxe,i was there when the dealer spoke to Harley tect,. I do know they update the tuners right from Harley. They will check for updates every time I go in for service.

Bike looks real nice!

Do you know if those passenger peg heel kickers will work on a Street Glide? I think my wife would love them.

I tried the full foot step but it interferes with my legs when I stop.

I would think so,floor boards would not fit with the removeable bags I would ask dealer and give it a try.

Have you tried switching the floorboards to opposite sides? Me & many others on site have done this and it works great.

floor boards stick out to far, I would be afraid of hitting them when laying it over in a turn ,also a pain when trying to walk the bike backwards;

John if you ask me, yes I found it and completed it with the matching pegs for my bike.
It's on my next order list by a friend of me in CA, the "Europe prices" aren't nice 154€($210) vs approx $75 ......
I have time to wait and a lot to do on the bike during the winter  8).

I see you put the light in the luggage rack.  I also want to add this light, was it difficult to wire in?  I changed my tires, didn't like the white side walls.  Have 4\10ths mile on the bike.  Hauling to Florida soon.

We plan to leave Feb 28th, park the trailer in Oxford.  Run down the west coast, across the everglades and then spend a couple days at bike week.  We load the bike on Sunday and head home.  I have a sister in Ft Myers, and a brother in Vera Beach.  My wife has a v-rod, but we will only haul my bike.  You?

Hi Foot Loose, I guess we'll miss each other, we are trailering to Savannah unless this 10 feet of snow disappears by then, in that case we'll ride the whole way.  We'll ride out of Savannah on Mar 11th and plan on riding the central part of the state all the way to Key West.  On the way back, we may ride over to Destin and then back to Savannah.  This will be our first ride of the season, can't wait!

KeyWest is a great ride.  If you have not, going across the Everglades on 41 is interesting.  you can grab an airboat ride and pet the alligators.

I have a quick question about the rack hi-visibilty light. Did you use LED light kit p/n 68000076? And, if so, did you use the wiring harness p/n 73415-11? I want to make sure before I buy. This is my wife's bike and I want to ensure her safety.

I also want to install the light in the luggage rack.  Went to the dealer today.  They looked up the part, but the book says the light does not work for softail deluxe.  I know you will have to find the brake signal ahead of the flasher unit, but surely there is a way to connect up.  If it ever warms up in Michigan, I think I'll search for the signal.

Hi John

Sold my superglide and waiting for my soft tail CVO to arrive in the UK....white and blue like yours.  I was thinking of putting a rear light on the luggage rack too - saw that your dealer installed it for you. can you still remove the luggage rack/sissy bar if the light is wired in?

many thanks for your help

I have a question. I just purchased the Air Foil rack LED light. I installed it in the rack per instructions. However, the rear fender connector (# 7) is a Molex connector and not a Packard connector. The kit came with two adapter harnesses and will not connect to plug #7. The only choice I have is to remove the quick disconnect 3-way connector from the adapter and splice it into the bike's existing rear fender harness. Does anyone know which three wires that I will need to tap into? I don't have a wiring diagram yet for this model FLSTNSE.

I looked at a wiring diagram from my 2010 Limited and kind of compared them to the Molex connector on the FLSTNSE. With a multimeter I came up with this conclusion: The number one pin (BLK) is the ground. To the opposite side of the connector is the running light (Blue) and next to it is the stop light (Blue/Red). Now all I have to do is to get some Posi-Taps and tee into each of these wires with the 3-way adapter harness I will rob from one of the adapters that came with the kit and voila - done. It should work.

As a final follow-up on the luggage rack LED light kit, I finished installing it once I received my 2014 FLSTNSE supplementary manual. The rear fender connector, plug #7, is a 12 pin plug, two rows of six. The top row is numbered 1 - 6, [1]blue, [2]blue/red, [3]blue/violet, [4]black, [5]blank (no wire), [6]black. I used 3 posi-taps into the wires on the fender side of the plug to pins 1,2 & 4. The blue wire is the running lights. The blue/red is the brake light signal and the black wire is the ground. From kit p/n 68000009, I cannibalized the 3-way harness that is teed in to the adapter. Then to complete the adaptation, the 3-way harness is attached the the posi-taps. Voila! Job complete. It works quite well.

I had to order the supplementary manual. It's p/n is 99525-14. It includes all of the different items and systems that are not on the standard stock softails. It also includes full comprehensive sections on diagnostic troubleshooting. Finally, the end section contains all of the wiring diagrams. You are welcome for the help.

Many thanks - I have ordered the manual. I went to a local HD dealer and looked at the parts manual and it says the bike comes with a cover for the bike...and he thinks that it may also come with liners for the side bags plus a special cleaning kit for the leather - did yours have any of this?

In the US the bike came with a pretty good cover with CVO embroidered on the front, but no liners for the saddlebags. It also came with a leather cleaning kit. After about six weeks we also received a bronze CVO Deluxe medallion, a one year membership for two to the Harley Museum and a dog tag to be used to gain entrance into the museum. Also, be aware that the bike comes with a Siren I for the security system that needs to be programmed before you take delivery. It does not come with a Siren II. Siren II has an additional antenna to be used with a remote receiver. I think that coves it.
