Your question answers itself - kinda. People will pay for what they want. If HD stopped making any color, is it really worth more? Only to those who want it. Not being rude, trust me, I pay for crap most people wouldn't, but don't let a dealer gouge you up front, let him hide it in the paperwork!  :P

crobson, welcome to the board.

There are a number of dealerships that sell at MSRP and a few that sale below MSRP.  You might want to post in the "Buying" board, exactly what you're looking for and the color.  Hopefully you'll find one a thousand miles away or so.....fly in, make the purchase and ride it home!.

The bike (and matching Bushtec trailer) that I'm riding right now was bought on the east coast thanks to the help of some members on this forum that helped me.  I flew out to Charlotte, North Carolina and rode it all the way across the country to San Diego.  The entire trip probably didn't cost me $1,500.   Think about it.....it's a journey.   :2vrolijk_21:

I saw the red FLHX this past week at dillions in Nebraska.  they have the red and black.  the red was listed a suggested retail.  I liked the red one.. not enough to trade my 12, but its my favorite.

I was told that red was too rare to source so I sprung for the white (which isn't bad either).  But  low and behold, a dealership in my area had both side by side at MSRP..... :-\

well sad  to say but not going to buy the trade in on my bike was ridiculously low. even tried another dealer back home that had one also too low a trade in as well. guess I bought a cvo hoping they would hold their value better. my trade in is a 13 road glide with 25,000 miles is this to many. bums me out for sure.

Just tell the dealer how "rare" your CVO trade is and surely he will give you $1500 over the book value for your bike towards the new bike at $1500 over msrp.  :P. I had my name on a red SESG that's supposed to be delivered in early June. I gave it up because I've finally come to my senses concerning the huge hit that the CVO's take after the first year or two. If we will stop buying them, MOCO might possibly realize how overpriced they are. And then, if that's not enough, the dealers mark it up some more because it's "rare"....isn't that why it's $40k in the first place???  :soapbox:

You think CVO's loose value at an accelerated rate... Look at Bentley or Rolls. When you spend more, partly for prestige that does not mean it will hold its value better than anything else. Sorry.

I don't know about every dealer, but our local dealer goes straight to nada without any accessory options and what ever the lowest number is that's what they offer. My 15 Rgu was 8 months old with 11k miles and they offered me 27k. Mind you I've put over 8k into the bike also. And they only wanted 46k for their White Street glide. Heard every excuse in the book. Yours is a 15 model. It was still 2015. Cvo's tank when you put more than 3k a year on them. So buy it but don't ride it? I'll never trade again. May buy but never trade in to a dealer.  :soapbox:

Sorry he didn't work with you, but that is his prerogative.

I wouldn't pay one centilla over msrp, i'm trying to go the other way.

Keep an eye out something might get your attention from a more reasonable dealer.
