Beautiful... but I still like my blue beast! but I wonder if the inner fairing will fit on mine.... I like the tweeters.

Looks to me like they used the regular inner and replace two of the small gauges with the tweeters.

With the fuel port now on the top/side of the tank, they probably used the LED fuel gauge on the other side.  They probably (hopefully) ditched the air temp gauge for the other tweeter.

I'd ditch the fuel gauge as well.. it's pretty useless to me... it reads empty when I have 100 mile remaining... food for thought

I'm not sure about the console or tank.... I like the low profile console but I like the clean tank with no gas or fuel cap..

It's just a Road King tank with the flush mount gas cap and gauge and a non-instrumented center console.  So there's nothing there dramatically new.  But for what's really such a small difference it makes a dramatic difference in look.  It'd be really cool if they had something like ascending and descending LEDs in that tank console for a tach function or some other blended in LED instrumentation that was off and unnoticeable when the bike was off.

Post by: mjb765 on July 27, 2010, 07:45:00 PM
I agree...nothing dramatically new in technology, but I like the look. I have been looking at low profile tank consoles for mine--either chrome or painted, but you lose the CVO emblem with that.

I'll be interested in the first good detailed pics of dash also.  Curious what they've chosen for instrumentation and how they've done what I expect to be tweeters in a couple of unused dash holes.  Fuel gauge will be down on the tank now so probably oil pressure and volt meter in the dash and dump the rain gauge.

I actually like all of the SESG colors this year but I was just showing my wife (who cares very little about this stuff and can't ride one on her own) the pictures on this thread and (I chit you not) when she saw the black and crimson model she says... "Oooohhh, I want that one for Christmas!!!'  So, knowing that she was completely full of bull and trying not to give her a chance to back out before we could seal the deal, I said "DONE!!!"  That of course led to... "You know I was joking, right?"

I haven't responded to anything past "DONE" so as far as I'm concerned that's where the conversation ended, it's agreed and in the books.  Yay for me, er - I mean my wife, for Christmas!!!!

Give me the winning lottery numbers (before they are drawn) and I'm on it. :D :D

It is a beautiful bike and if I were in the market for a new one it would be at the top of the list w/the green SESG running a close second. However a new/another bike isn't in the cards for me right now...... and I'm not ready (nor do I think I ever will be) to get rid of my :pumpkin:

I think they're going to sell a lot more SESG's this year.  Leg fairings, four speaker and two tweeters.....black and chrome wheels on the bikes that have black in them and all chrome wheels on the others (the way it should have been last year) and the paint scheme is back up there, too.  The MoCo has stepped back up to the plate on this year's SESG. :2vrolijk_21:

Don

There's a video on this link. It on the right side of the page. There's a close up of the SESG dash there. Not great but something to look at for now.

http://www.motorcycle-usa.com/113/7537/Motorcycle-Article/2011-Harley-Davidson-CVO-Street-Glide.aspx

The Black Diamond / Crimson scooter appears to be shown briefly. I believe they misidentify the scooter as the CVO Ultra Classic Electra Glide. Looks somewhat purple.

Thanks Jeff.  The tweeter pods are where you'd expect them to be.  Have to assume the gauges are volt and oil pressure as anything else makes no sense.  Not a bad looking dash at all.

Autumn Haze for me please .... me likey a LOT.

Anyone else notice that the (worthless) 4" Black Blade has been replaced with something (looks like 6" in dark smoke?) that looks like it might almost function as a windshield?

Pic here (and lots of nice pics of the new SESG colors as well):

http://0.tqn.com/d/motorcycles/1/0/O/D/0/-/2011-Harley-CVO-Street-Glide-FLHXSE2-autumn-BJN.jpg

Dunno if it's enough for me to get rid of Blackbeard ... it IS tempting me though.

Haze = Haze inner fairing.
Kryptonite, Black Diamond and Inferno Orange all have Black Diamond inner fairing.

notice there are lots of little one off items that make each one of the same models a little more unique...
gloss black engine on Kryptonite, Granite and chrome on others
Black wheels and chrome wheels depending on color of bike
muffler end caps different depending on what color.
Chrome gas gauge and fuel cap vs. black based on color of bike
Chrome console vs. black console based on color of bike...
all create a different look within the same model...nice.

It's a toss up... as much as I like O/B there are some things I like on this bike that the O/B doesn't have (black motor). Only way I'd want anther bike is to be able to keep my :pumpkin: because of that I'd probably go w/the green just so I wouldn't have two similar bikes in the stable. :nixweiss:

All look good but I'll stick with my Spiced Rum.  More the look I like.  Cleaner look, less "busy" paint.  Enuf HD tradition with some old school touches.

It's more "me" than the 2011's but I must admitt...I've not seen many HD's I didn't like.  Just MHO.

Waiting to see them in person next week in Sturgis.  Too hard to make a determination on colors without seeing them out in the sun.  I will admit I think the lowers on the bike look stupid, it would be the first thing that I would take off the bike.

Mi amigo...I guess the reason was to promote the Road Glide ultra ???

Jorge, you're probably spot on with that statement.  I hope they have better luck with this version of the SERG then they did the 09's.  Too many of them were left sitting on the showroom floors when the '10s came out.

A test ride at Sturgis is in the cards just because. Already know I'm not interested in anything I've seen so far. The Tequila is in the garage to stay. For my taste they missed the mark again, but a dollar and My opinion will get you a soft drink at McDonalds.

nah, haven't seen it in person Gary...I've never been a fan of green on a motorcycle anyway, but you're right, everyone has their own personal tastes.  I don't think the MoCo will have a problem selling any of them.  I'm just amazed that they came out with three (four if you want to classify the convertable) baggers.  I just don't understand why they only came out with one color for the SEUC.  :nixweiss:

I was surprised too when the CARB's came out and were showing three touring CVO's but somebody mentioned in a previous post the touring CVO's sell well and very seldom are left on dealer floors compared to some of the non-touring CVO's. The fact that they came out w/the Black SEUC midyear ('10)leads me to believe they may do/try something like that again. :nixweiss:

I'd ditch the fuel gauge as well.. it's pretty useless to me... it reads empty when I have 100 mile remaining... food for thought

So what's up with that, are all the bikes with the fuel gauge that way ?  I thought maybe the sending unit in the tank on my new ultra was bad because there's like two to two and a half gallons left when it reads empty, compared to the led one on my serk which is spot on..../shrug.

I'm dying to see good pics of the Black Diamond/Crimson SESG, or better yet in person, this could very well be the bike to get me to loosen my grip on my serk  :nervous:

Well, I took the plunge again and put a deposit on a black and orange SESG.  it shipped on 7/29 so I should see it this week. I'll be sure to post some pix when it arrives.  Saw the black and crimson at a different dealership and it was spectacular in the sunlight.  If it would have had chrome wheels instead of the dark chrome, I would have bought it instead.
