Madstad windshield
« on: December 30, 2013, 06:21:01 PM »

I know that I need to change the windshield on my '13 110th CVO RGC.  I was only able to put 330 miles on her before the season ended here in New Hampshire, but that was more than enough miles to know that it must be changed.   I have spent countless hours on several sites reading about windshields, both for my CVO and for my '12 RGC I had prior (may she rest in peace).  The one comment that I saw over and over was that the Madstad windshield worked wonders for almost everyone who ever tried it, BUT...  that the looks were hard if not impossible to get over.
SO....  my request is for any one who put a Madstad windshield on a CVO - please post some good pics of your scoot with the Madstad.  Bonus points if you have a 110th Anniversary RGC!
Thanks!!

Perfect timing.  I just put my Madstad on.  I plan to run it during the colder months and then use my 8" Klockwerks when it warms up.

once you use a madstad the thing will never come off.10000 miles on mine  :)

10 inch light smoke on my maple cvo 2012

I would buy a 12 inch next time and have the holes custom drilled 1 or 2 inches higher

the thing is amazing buffeting cured by 90%  makes a 750 mile day feel like 300   :bananarock:

sorry no pictures . bike at GMR for a little kick in the a** treatment :orange:

This is with the Clear.  I bought it off a forum member with the clear.....ordered the Dark Tint.  I like the looks better and didn't like the brackets showing through.

13.5" with light smoke, crappy picture actually looks better outside and even with the VERY limited ride time due to 'Ol Man Winter once you experience the ride behind one, you get over the looks thing Right Now.....

Thats my next windshield. Running stock right now. Had a CE Baily's shield ran about a thousand miles didn't like the distortion caused by the curves in the shield. Wife said she had more wind than the stock shield. Tried on one of HD demo unit's took it for a ride with the wife along found it worse than the stock shield for wind noise and buffering. (She said get that shield off) So my question would be how tall of shield should I get. I am 5 feet 11" with short little legs 31"inseam. Some say they are ugly. But I have never heard anything bad said about
Them by people who own them.

Have only put about 1500 miles on my 13" extra dark Madstad, but so far am very pleased. Hard to explain, but seems like I get clean air hitting me with no buffeting. Guess that's how the shield is supposed to work. Took off a 12" Freedom shield which was much better than any other shield I had tried until the Madstad. Now I have tried about every shield out there except Cee Bailey. Not sure how I missed Cee Bailey.

FWIW I have a 15" Dark Grey Cee Bailey on my '12 CVO RG and am still getting wind buffeting. Seriously thinking about trying a MadStad since I ride freeways every day going back and forth to work.  I'm 6'-2" with 34" inseam.
