Ran across this picture and was wondering if anyone knows anything about this type of racing?
Not sure if it's from a movie or whether this was how they raced sidecars.

Looks likes this could be real blood sport.

I have seen them racing on similar machines on television. It isn't on very often but it's neat to watch when it is on. I don't actively seek it out but like to watch when I catch it while channel surfing.

Can still vividly remember the first time I saw sidecar racing.  Didn't even know it was a thin until stumbling on an event.  One of the few things I've ever seen to which my first reaction was immediately "oh chit no way am I ever doing that!"

I can see the side cars in the black and white photo but it looks like the guys in you color photo are frantically looking for the sidecar...I think maybe they forgot to attach them to the motorcycles.

No kidding!  I've seen the outboard riders hang off in so many different hairy and scary ways it just boggles the mind.  Different classes still vary from things that look like bulbous dirt bikes with a side tumor to these almost torpedo like monobodies.  It is huge fun to watch.  Truly a spectacle.  But no way in hell I'd ever think about doing it.  I am not that brave.

You'd think the "Stones" thing would be apropos.  But in my limited experiences watching the sport a lot of the outriggers were women.  Still wicked braver than I am.

That sport has evolved greatly since the 50s when I first saw it. I had no idea they were still doing it. Whew!  That Isle of Mann video says it all. Not for me!  Har!
