Backup Bike
« on: October 24, 2014, 08:37:58 PM »

For the last 3 summers we have had piston/valve guide failures on our Jalapeno. Had a less than perfect ride to the Santa Fe GTG, canceled 2 other trips, lost 9 months of ride time and spent over $8,000.00. After this summers rebuild I am less than confident in the motor.
Option 1) Buy a new CVO and spend $45,000.00 for a bike that will probably spend many weeks at the dealer with warranty concerns ( Past experience ) and still have only one bike.
Option 2) Trade it in on a slightly used late model CVO spending $15-20,000.00 and have a bike with a paint design I probably would never be happy with and still have only one bike.
Option 3) Buy another 2005 with low miles for a backup bike for $15,300.00.
Option #3 is what we did this past week, less than 22k miles, all accessories there, plus chrome inner, 2006 padded dash, true duals, battery tender, extra set of NEW tires, 2 windshields and more. I believe we made a great choice.

That version of the 2005 is one of my all time favorites.  Nicely done.

HONDA....

We looked at the Victory, but it is Harley or nothing in this family when it comes to motorcycles. My Honda has 4 wheels.

I hear ya Brother. My trip to Santa Fe cost me allot also. The REV Perf tuner was not what I thought it would be.

I did not have to by a 2nd bike. Did have to buy a new ECM and a new TTS tuner.

I would love to by another 04  :pumpkin: and turn it into a Roadglide some day.

Brad, we would love to see that! My friend Chad (Redbeard) did that to his 2010 Tequila CVO SG. Turned out real nice, 1 of a kind.
