I am trying to sell my 2006 FLHTCUSE, and a guy asked if I had the gold key? I bought this bike used....it is a CVO Ultra classic....Was there a key that belongs to it? I wonder what else came factory that I am missing?
-
The gold key comes with CVO's along with the other stuff get like a CVO bike cover.
-
Yup, it comes in a ring box. Along with the CVO cover you should have a tool kit and the driver head set also.
-
Ok, I got a tool kit, Are they special tools? I did not get the cover or the key, Does that key by chance operate the ignition? I know who the previos owner was, But I bought it from a dealer...he traded it in....I wonder if it's worth balking about?
-
The Gold Key fits the bike. I would try to get it and the cover if you still can. Most people looking at your bike will ask for them.
-
I still have my gold key from my 07 CVO... :bananarock: When the MoCo took it back,, I kept the gold

I should've thought of that. I was honest and returned it as well. :sauer019:
-
I don't understand why someone would keep either the key or the cover. It came with the bike, factory, I can see taking the accessories off that you added, but the bike is now alot less value without the key? and the cover?

Sean,
Not sure when the "gold keys" started coming w/the CVO's. I know mine (04's) didn't come w/the fancy box. :(

The gold "CVO" keys can still be ordered through dealerships, you'll need your key code and the CVO VIN to
Don't have the p/n in front of me, but it's in the back of the P & A catalog along with the other keys.
I believe that they like $70, and you can surely find a dealership that will offer 20% off the list price.
Some people apparently like keeping them for jewlery or momento's.....figure that one out. You can also probably still order the CVO cover for a while longer, but you'd have to get the p/n from someone for your particular model CVO.

I thought it was 2.2 pounds of Mexican Pot-----Thats going back a few years and I have photos----AK

BTW, the "gold" key isn't really gold (try polished brass). As cheap as the MoCo has proven itself to be, I wonder if there is anyone who could possibly believe they would hand out a "real gold" key.
If you want one and the original owner doesn’t have it, for a mere pittance ($89.95 plus tax) you can buy a replacement from H-D:

MoCo = Motor Company as in Harley-Davidson Motor Company.

MoCo is short for Motor Company, as in Harley Davidson Motor Company.

Awesome!!! You guys are great, quick responces!!! A++++

I have gold *cough* brass keys on both my bikes even though the VRSCA is most notably not CVO. It was however 100 anniversary and I ordered the gold key package which included the 100th cover, some other 100th stuff, and of course the brass key.
-
When i traded in my 2006 while on the road last May...they only got that which was on the bike. If they or a future owner wants any of the following, they will have to pay:
Felt saddlebag liners
CVO Cover
Gold Key
Tool Kit
and probably a few other things.

Oh yeah, I forgot the softsided bags for the saddle bags and TP's I have mine still in the plastic bags.

I think that the garage door opener thing was included with the '06 Ultra too. I've got a couple of those, but have never used them. I'd have to hunt to find them. I've got a small garage door opener that I just clip on a belt loop.
-
Aw chit that's what I need to find is the GDO.
-
what's a gold key?
i used to have one....think it was from the doll house chain.
nuff cash will cure anything!

I got the same "Gold Key Package" for my 2003 100th anniversary Gunmetal Blue Fat Boy.
How much is a gold key worth any way ?? Feels pretty heavy....maybe $1,000 ?? :huepfenlol2: :pineapple:

I really didn't keep the gold key intentionally but when i discovered i had the key and didn't return with the bike i didn't feel bad one bit.. After the grief if went through with that bike.. no way!!!Besides the MoCo ended back with the bike and no loss of value to them,,, no doupt they ordred up another key

My '05 came with the gold key and a box one could possibly call fancy, if looking at it very positively.

Gold key is what Goldmember uses to...
I still have mine from the SEEG, my 02 FXDWG3 did not have one. I still have my cover from the SEEG, still in plastic.

The gold key .....
.... isn't made of gold!

.....and the 'coating' they have on the polished brass alloy or whatever it is has maintained very well on mine. I use it as my primary key when riding the scooter and it's not corroding or chipping or anything. I probably just jinxed it. :nervous: aaaaargh. :drink: spyder

I think we need a way to spin the stealership term to a more global encompassing term for the MoCo itself.

When they told me I would get a key with a fancy box I kept looking for her but she never showed up. :huepfenlol2:

Here's the garage door opener thing. I know you probably can't tell much about the scale from this photo, but the thing is about 4-1/2" high x 2-7/8" wide x about 1-1/4" thick (not including the electrical prongs).
-
Here's the back side of the unit.
-
Here's the Gold Key that came with the 100th Anniversary Package on the '03 bikes. I got mine with an '03 Road King Classic. I didn't give the key back to the insurance company when the bike was totalled (and they bought the bike).
-
They call it a gold key and then point out that it is brass. It did come in a nice little jewelry type box.
-
Here's the one I got with the '06 CUSE.
-
. . . and the '07 SERK.
-
I also received one with an '05 SEEG, but did not include it with the bike when I sold it used. I explained that I had already given the key to my wife. The gold chain I bought for the key was probably worth a lot more than the "gold" brass key. I never tried any of mine, but I think the keys did (or do) fit the ignitions on the bikes.
-
Mine is in my underware drawer...
-
My gold key works in the ignition, but not in the bags. And what is the headset your talking about?
Ken

Ken
The headset would be on the Ultra Classic bikes. It's a headset that can be installed on a helmet so you can make use of the intercom, CB, and sound system.

Yep, I got one of them with my 2003 Fatboy. I think it is in my dresser drawer
-
Ive just done a part ex and i handed over my gold key and made sure there was a gold Key with my next bike. The dealer was onto this as well.
-
If you go back far enough that gold key was $60.00 and it came in a coffee can not a box
-
I believe you can get hold of a new key; Commemorative CVO™ Ignition Key - P/n 71031-04. Price is US $ 89.95
