change my CVO Street Glide 2016 for new model 2017 ???
« on: October 05, 2016, 05:42:34 AM »

Hello dear friends, I decided to ask advice to you because I believe that your opinion and your views are very sincere and important than any hd dealer.
A few months ago I purchased a Street Glide CVO m.y.2016, with mufflers and other accessories I spent about 42,000 euro. my "old" CVO was evaluated 20,000 euro.
Now the dealer offers me the possibility of buying a new street glide withdrawing my only 2000 km to 32,000 euro and 8,000 euro would adding a completely new bike, according to him.
Really do you think it might be worth making this change ..?

(I feel a bit cheated by this way of doing not to mention that the colors of the bikes in 2017 I do not like at all)
What do you say?
your opinions are very important to me !
Thanks you.

Your life, your money. If it feels right to you, do it.

I sat down and crunched the numbers on trading my beautiful '12. I felt good about their offer (surprisingly). In the end, I decided the '17 just didn't grab me the way my '12 does and it didn't feel right so I kept mine.

Just my opinion but if you are happy with what you have then don't be influenced by your dealer. It looks like you aren't that impressed with the new bikes so why take the financial loss?
You would get a new bike with paint you don't like and a first year release of an untested motor that could have problems that haven't been found yet.

If you are an optimist you could look at it as your bike is at it's highest trade-in value now and will only go down in value with more age and mileage. (Of course private sales may get you more money then trading in.) Then you would get the latest and greatest in bells and whistles the dealership has to offer in a new bike. It could also turn out to be a great new motor but only time will tell if the advertising hype will meet expectations.

So for me if you can live with the paint, can take the financial loss, and are willing to gamble on an unproven motor then it may work out for you.......
Good luck with your decision.

I speak for myself.  I am not a fan of the paint on the 17.  I love the paint on my 15 and on the 16 models.  I like that my 110 motor is a well proven motor.  Not a fan of 1st year motor redesigns.  Already had someone post a pic of their new 17 leaking oil.  The 17 will have bugs, make no mistake about it.  They will eventually all be rectified also.  It may take time and aggravation for that to happen though.   Then there is the cost you will incur to make this happen.  Not worth it IMHO...
You have to be happy in the end.

As mentioned before---not a fan of buying the first year of a new motor...let them work out the issues that will arise--or already have.

Also--you said you didn't like the new colors--so keep yours!!!

I see plenty of 14, 15, and 16 My with oil leaks...they all get handled the same way.  No one is exempt.  Go with what you like and don't worry about what has not even happened yet.

Well proven motor?  Seriously the 110's are still having issues.  I have one that had to have new cams and such cause of lifter failure.  I just had the motor replaced in a 15 CVO Road glide ultra for failure.  A good friend of mine, and member on this forum had the motor replaced in his 15 SERGU.  So it far from well proven.

So I do not really feel Im taking much risk with the new motor.  Cant be any worse than the old one.

Thats why they have two year warranties.
