Saddle bag retainers
« on: October 25, 2016, 04:38:53 PM »

I didn't like the big bulky saddle bag retainers. I replaced them with these from JP Cycles. I had these on the road glide and they worked well. Here is a pic..

Nice, the factory ones seem to take up a lot of space in the bag when packing for a trip.

Yep just crazy big!
End up bashing your knuckles when stuffing "stuff" in bags, I never had a single issue with the old ones ever!, they were discrete and and above all " they worked" (for the majority of us anyhow) and were quicker to remove one quarter turn and your done! With These new fellas you wind in a bolt  about 1 1/2" long for what seems eternity ....why oh why oh why!    :nixweiss:

Well they supposedly addressed that issue regarding claims etc with the recall on the saddlebag mounting hardware just recently,
Somehow I think they've opened up a pandora,'s box here as I see more people potentially cross threading the bolts and stripping the threads on the receiver nuts then after time....bye bye boxes! :'(
