Another Zumo/Radio/Bluetooth Question
« on: May 14, 2008, 04:17:11 PM »

Hey y'all!

I have an 06 with the HK radio with the Zumo. I use the HD headset with the ear pieces replaced and use ear buds. Listening in AUX mode I can hear the directions, mp3 music, and hear my cell phone (bluetooth) fine.

Trouble is no-one can hear me on the cell phone when I call anyone or receive a call..

My question is.. what are my options to be able to speak as well as hear through the bluetooth without loosing any of the other functions?

Thanks.

If you're using the H-D wired headset stuff they will not be able to hear you because you're not transmitting a bluetooth signal to your Zumo if that is what you have you phone paired to. Bluetooth helmet such as Scot has described will probably be your easiest answer.

Or since you are using a Zumo, you could connect the output of your mike into the microphone jack on the side of the Zumo.  It tethers you in but gets the job done with relatively low expense.

Well.. I'm kinda attached to my Shoei Muti-tech as far as comfort & fit.

If I Plug the output of my mic to the Zumo, will the CB still work OK or will I have to split the output?

It'll still work, but not thru the headset. As it is now the two electronics don't tie in together as you want them. I had thought there was some company that sold an additional piece of equipment (switch) that you could put inside the fairing that would tie them all together, but don't remember exactly what it was. Kennedy cellsets comes to mind, but I can't find anything w/them concerning H-D. :nixweiss:

Ok, found the info (courtesy of the Zumo forum). Don't know any of the particulars about these company's, but here they are....

If you have audio sources in addition to your Zumo such as a XM-Sirius radio/radar detector/cell phone/iPod/MP3 player etc. or headsets that you would like to integrate with your bike's radio system the following companies offer devices and setups for that purpose:

1. Cell Phone/GPS/Radar Audio Integration Kit ’98 – ‘05 Harley ElectraGlide/RoadGlide ULTRA

2. Tesseract Mobile Electronics

3. J&A Accessories

4. Cellset Motorcycle Audio Accesories

5. Mix-It 2

6. The AmpliRider

NOTE: Kennedy (cellset) parts may not work properly if a headlight modulator is being used.

Tanks DOOD!

This good stuff to check out!

Sportygordy, I thought I would try that at one time but with everything being equal.. I just didn't think everything would integrate the way I needed it to if I spent the $$ for the H-D BT..

Has anyone used their regular BT headset inside of their helmet with any luck?  Because my BT that came with my Motorola phone works with the ZUMO BT in the car just fine, and if it would work inside a helmet that would be a no brainer and use existing equipment I already own??

Tank,

I think the HD BT module will give you the most flexability provided your phone is compatable with the BT module. There is a thread here i believe that has a list of phones compatable. If you patch your ZUMO into the AUX input on your radio you will have all functionality of your Zumo and your phone as well.

I know what your saying about the cost for the BT module. I ordered one a few months ago, got put on a back order list, cancelled the order and now getting ready to try again.

I have friends using the BT module and the ZUMO and they prefer to use the XM radio through the ZUMO because it allows then to use XM or MP3 and still monitor the GPS voice or MP3 music. Only draw back i see when using the radio or CD you will loose the GPS voice monitoring, I don't know if anyone has tried but curious if you can pair the ZUMO and a Phone through the BT module and set it up to allow ZUMO to override the radio funcitons. If anyone can answer that one, please ping in. If that worked i think solve all issues.
