Left fairing lower cap.
« on: November 28, 2015, 08:28:52 PM »

Hi there

In order to remove the left side lower fairing cap does the entire fairing lower need to be removed? Easy? Hard? Any advice appreciated.

Cheers

to just remove the cap, there is no need to remove the entire fairing lower.  I do it twice a year, in the spring to remove the vent door, and again in the fall to put it back on for the winter.  there are two nuts per cap, accessible through the 'glove box'...

Hi there

Then, not having a glove box as such can I assume that all I would need to do is remove the speaker to gain access to the two nuts. Easy enough to remove the speaker?

Yes, remove the four screws that hold-in the speaker and pop the speaker out. It might take a solid tug to get it out. disconnect the speaker using the quick-disconnect.

You'll see two rubber plugs at the front of the fairing: they have an X in a circle shape. Pull those out with a pair of needle nose pliers: again, a solid tug will do.

I believe it's either an 11mm or 12mm socket that fits on the two bolts that need to come off to loosen the cap.
