Looking into this for some of the longer trips. Anybody got any info. I like the fact that it does not bolt into the bed...I can put it in the shed when not in use and still have full use of the truck bed.

Agreed...but not bolted in and a lot easier to move if you want to use the truck bed. That's what I liked.

The Rampage can be a handful to remove out of the bed of a truck. This looks like a pretty good alternative.

Found a youtube video of it. I'm not sure if I like the way the cable just runs on top of the ramp across the peak at the top though. Seems like it need a roller or something in there to prevent chaffing of the cable or cutting a groove in the ramp system.

I saw that too........the guy is only 150 miles from me....It may be worth the trip to check it out in person. May just have to take a day off and drive down.

Because our riding season is so short... and sometimes the snow goes out everywhere but my driveway or the dirt roads leading to the dry pavement...  I have called my mechanic to come by the house and pick up the bike for Spring Maintenance.  He uses a similar system, if not the same.  His isn't bolted into the truck permanently, but uses really heavy duty pins to keep it in the truck bed when needed.  He does have tie down points mounted in the corners to add the extra stability.

When he needs the truck for something other than picking up customers bikes, all he has to do is take out the pins.  Granted, the ones under the bed are a little difficult to get to, he says he wouldn't do it any other way.

I just found a slightly used Rampage for $1000 a few hours away. I am going to get that one in a couple of weeks when we are both available.. A new Rampage is $2800 with shipping, so for $1000 it's a deal. The lift breaks down into 3 pieces which are moveable by one person so it should work for me.

You will need 5 nutserts 3/8 x 16, to install in the bed.  I use a 1000 amp Deep Cycle Battery that is independent of the trucks dual batteries.  Always keep a hand on the bike as it goes up, it is possible for the bike to tip over, do not ask me how I know.  Good luck Ed

It isn't easy to move any of the pieces with one person but it can be done.  That's a helluva nice price. 
I would have kept mine if I had a truck with a longer bed on it. I had it in the back of my lifted Avalanche that the one year we hauled to MV, that made some very interesting driving in the Smokies.
