2013 and up windshield vibration on the CVO RK
« on: March 04, 2015, 10:25:30 PM »

I have yet to hear anybody complaining about the vibes on the windshield at low speeds and lower rpms. I bought one for my 08 and the sound from the windshield is distracting.

+1 vibration here. Very unpleasant.

I haven't noticed any abnormal noise or vibration on my 2013 CVO RK. windshield. I use the Windsplitter for summer months & purchased a 18" Klock Werks recurved I use in cooler weather. I'm happy with both!

I remember seeing a whole thread on this site about vibration on that windshield last year. No vibration on mine but totally inefficient for me. I am 6'1 and get the wind right in my face. I use the standard road king windshield and it works and looks great on my CVO RK 2014.

No problem with vibration on my 2014, although it feels like it has been so long since I rode it, it could be wishful thinking!

Yup. Rattles worst on decel below 2k rpm.
Went with standard RK windshield after couple thousand miles...
...the stock wind splitter was way too short - at 6'4" the helmet buffeting was severe.

I had the shake really bad right around 1700-2200 rpm in any gear and particularly on decel. It was so bad that you couldn't stand riding the thing in 6th unless you were going 80. I rode the bike for around 1200 miles like that and was almost resigned to the fact that I had got a lemon and probably had shifted flywheels or something else major going on.

When I changed my stock header to one that had been decatted and changed my mufflers to ones that had fullsac cores, the unusual vibration went away.

I know that the change had nothing to do with it since the parts I put back on where otherwise identical to what I took off, but I think that the stock system was in a bind allowing vibration to transfer to the motorcycle, most likely at the crossover mounting point.

If I had this vibration ii would take all of the exhaust bolts loose and re tighten them to insure that this is no binding.

Thanks for the replies. Just can't see how Harley would let this go. They surely ride and test these products. That question applies to a lot of other areas too

On my 2014 CVO RK the windshield started to rattle at about 3000 miles. Wonder if the attachment points are wearing.
